Description:

Center Art LLC, managed by the Space Needle LLC, is partnering with Chihuly Studio to operate the Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibition on the Seattle Center grounds next to the Space Needle.


GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

The Exhibition Lead Host supports Center Artโ€™s organization mission, vision, and values by exhibiting the following behaviors: excellence, competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, personalization, accountability, and ownership.


The Exhibition Lead Host will assist with on-site leadership for the Exhibition Department. Duties will include assisting in scheduling hosts, special events, and maintaining exhibition host standards. The Lead Host will also maintain all regular host responsibilities that include providing initial visitor contact with all visitors while advancing their knowledge through museum tours and other educational programs. They will answer guest questions efficiently while promoting a positive and professional attitude. Responsible for maintaining and controlling an even flow of all Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibition visitors.


PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

Hosting:

  • Greet and converse with visitors in a friendly and outgoing manner.
  • Provide guests with positive information regarding present Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibit offerings.
  • Provide information about the Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibit, other attractions, Seattle, and the surrounding area.
  • Conduct guided tours of the Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibit.
  • Promote a positive, courteous, and professional attitude and appearance to all Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibition Team Members and visitors.
  • Serve as an โ€œinterpreterโ€ of the museumโ€™s art by helping to give the guest a deeper appreciation for the artwork.
  • Actively involve the visitors in the unbiased interpretation of the art.
  • Assist in preserving the collections by providing additional security in exhibition areas.
  • Audit cleanliness, minor cleaning of art areas.
  • Administer Guest Survey Program and reporting.

Lead Hosting:

  • Assist in host scheduling.
  • Assist in the development of educational materials and programs relating to Chihuly art.
  • Assist in training team members on Exhibition information and resources.
  • Attending on-site meetings that require Exhibition host representation.
  • Maintain Exhibition host tour materials and ensure working order.
  • Report on overall tours, gallery talks, and host activities to Exhibition Supervisor and Exhibition Manager.
  • Serve as an on-site leader.
  • Support Exhibition Department for on-site activities.
  • Other projects as assigned.


OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sensitivity to visitorโ€™s learning styles and interpretation of the art.
  • Provide information about all areas of the Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibition.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibition policies and procedures.
  • Know Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibition emergency and fire/life/safety procedures.
  • Reassure the guests in times of emergency and participate as needed in emergency procedures.
  • Assist in training new Team Members.
  • Know and follow lost and found procedures.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Proven great guest service skills.
  • Professional appearance and attitude.
  • Ability to effectively communicate using the English language.
  • Experience or knowledge of glass art, museums, and/or arts organizations preferred
  • Knowledge of Seattle and surrounding area
  • Team player attitude.
  • Ability to react quickly and correctly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working with a diverse population and varied points of views.
  • Excitement for learning and teaching.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • High school degree or equivalent.

Full Time, Hourly Position

Hourly Rate: $22.80 - $22.80/hour
