Are you a morning person who loves helping individuals meet fitness goals?  We have a job for you! This fitness assistant works at our Aquatics Center and teaches 13 water classes per week. Training is provided for teaching classes.  
 
Requirements (within 30 days of hire):
  • Must already have or be willing to get Group Fit certification OR
  • Have a degree in a fitness related field OR 
  • Have a Personal Training certification

JOB SUMMARY:
 
TOTAL HEALTH: Responsible for the day-to-day and long-term monitoring of fitness programming.  The Fitness Assistant will work with the Fitness Supervisor to organize, operate, and retain special programs in the fitness area for all members.  Overall shift coverage for the fitness areas, special programs, events, and classes will be performed.
 
TOTAL FITNESS AQUATICS: Oversees the daily operations of the Aquatic Center.  Maintenance of the pool, checking chemicals throughout the day.  Cleaning gym equipment and keeping fitness floor clean and organized.  Keeping track of pool attendants. Teaching water aerobics classes daily.
 
Fitness instructors provide class instruction per training, ensuring safety of members and clients, appropriate music selection, and timely attendance at class.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor of Science in Health Promotions, Exercise Physiology or related field OR certification in group fitness/personal training required within 30 days of hire. 
  • CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work with confused or fitness impaired members.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must have adequate perception of sounds or adequate hearing with corrections.
  • Adequate vision, or correctable with glasses/contacts, to prepare reports and read written materials.
  • Must have the physical capacity to perform the requirements of the class taught.
  • Must maintain a good level of physical conditioning necessary to instruct member in fitness.
