Job Summary
The Department of Kinesiology invites applications for an Instructor of Exercise Science position. The successful candidate will primarily teach undergraduate courses in Exercise Science and related areas. Primary teaching responsibilities include Foundations of Kinesiology, Principles of Wellness, Exercise Testing and Prescription, Strength and Conditioning Theory, and Internship/Practicum supervision. The position also includes student advising, service to the department and university, and active engagement in student success initiatives.
Essential Duties
  • Teach undergraduate courses in Exercise Science and Kinesiology, including:
    • Foundations of Kinesiology
    • Principles of Wellness
    • Exercise Testing and Prescription
    • Strength and Conditioning Theory and Practice
    • Other courses as assigned based on departmental needs
  • Supervise and evaluate Exercise Science internship and practicum experiences
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students regarding academic progress, career development, and professional preparation
  • Assist students in obtaining internship placements and experiential learning opportunities
  • Participate in departmental assessment, curriculum development, and accreditation-related activities
  • Serve on department, college, and university committees as assigned
  • Support student recruitment, retention, and engagement initiatives
  • Participate in community outreach and professional development activities
  • Maintain office hours and actively engage in student success efforts

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching
  • Ability to effectively teach exercise science concepts in both classroom and laboratory settings

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Strength and Conditioning, or a closely related field from an accredited institution
  • Evidence of successful teaching or instructional experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of exercise testing, exercise prescription, and strength and conditioning principles
  • Be in good standing with the NSCA with a current CSCS certification
  • Ability to supervise and evaluate student internships and experiential learning opportunities
