About the role
Lead and inspire a high-performing team at the Walton Family Whole Health & Fitness Center, managed by HealthFitness, in Bentonville, AR, where member experience and whole-person wellness are at the center of everything we do. As Group Fitness Manager, you will energize and develop a large team of group class instructors and drive meaningful member engagement through high-quality, consistent service. This role is ideal for a driven, people-focused leader who is passionate about fitness, thrives on coaching others to succeed, and partners closely with facility leadership to create a positive, results-driven environment where both team members and members can reach their full potential.
Schedule will be: T/W/TH 8am-5pm or 9am-6pm, Fri 1pm-10pm, Sat 7am-3pm.
Collaborates with Fitness Director to develop and deliver fitness related direct member programs and services.
Key Accountabilities
  • Ensures the fitness instructor staff is properly trained and holds appropriate certifications necessary for safe and effective fitness program delivery. Provides continuous feedback to ensure quality of all programs and services. Conducts performance appraisals and formal corrective action process when warranted. Supports the management of all fitness related program activities in accordance with HealthFitness operational, quality, safety, and service standards. Supports the maintenance of accurate fitness records and ensures confidentiality of data collected during health assessment and health promotion/membership activities in accordance with HealthFitness requirements, including applicable file transfer, processes, collaborating with related suppliers and/or storage.
  • Creates group exercise schedules with 150+ classes per week. Schedules all instructors and coordinates subs as needed. Works with the Fitness Director regarding the implementation of group fitness programs and special events. Supports the coordination of fitness class marketing and communications to maximize program engagement.
  • Leads regular staff meetings to ensure associates are informed about HealthFitness and Client business events.
  • Supports the Business Operations Director and Fitness Director with the tracking of fitness class participation and program usage data. Gathers program outcomes data and measures results. Evaluates and reports on program effectiveness in meeting objectives and makes recommendations for future program enhancements or modifications.
  • Leads the recruitment, hiring and training of fitness instructor staff and directs work assignments. Submits employment forms, payroll records, and billing worksheets accurately and according to contract provisions and HealthFitness policies.
  • May coordinate fitness internship program including recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of student interns.
  • Facilitates the close alignment of programs with the client's business needs, employee culture, and corporate health strategies. Participates in business planning process relating to program and service offerings within group exercise.
  • Provides individual and group exercise instruction. Educates participants on proper techniques to maximize exercise safety and effectiveness.
  • Other duties as needed/assigned.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Kinesiology or related discipline and 2+ years related experience, or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid certification from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, National Safety Council, or American Safety & Health Institute required. (if not current, will be required to obtain within 30 days of hire).
  • Industry recognized Group Exercise certification from ACE, AFAA/NASM, ACSM, NCCPT, or NETA required (if not current, will be required to obtain within 30 days of hire).
  • Advanced Skills in Microsoft Excel and computer proficiency in other Microsoft Office programs and member management software. Ability to navigate electronic onboarding and timecard systems required.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, coordinating and delivering effective programs including budgeting, marketing, and promotions.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity.

Preferred
  • Experience in driving profitable growth within a fee for service model.
  • Ideal candidates will also have a Personal Training certification from an industry recognized and HealthFitness approved provider.

Applicants must meet hiring requirements including but not limited to pre-employment drug test. The compensation range for this role is $50,000 - $57,000 annually. The final wage offer will be determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, skill set, and other relevant factors.
