What You'll Do
As an Exercise Physiologist, you'll provide safe, effective, and compassionate cardiovascular testing and pulmonary rehabilitation for adult and geriatric patients with chronic cardiac, respiratory, and comorbid conditions. You will be an essential partner in each patient's recovery journey by:
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments, reviewing medical histories, and evaluating test results
  • Developing and updating individualized exercise prescriptions based on AACVPR, ACSM, ATS, and AARC guidelines
  • Leading patients through structured rehabilitation sessions, providing coaching, motivation, and real-time feedback
  • Monitoring physiologic responses, including accurate recognition and interpretation of EKG abnormalities and arrhythmias
  • Identifying health risks, fall risks, and limitations-modifying exercise plans to ensure safety
  • Taking appropriate preventive or emergency action in response to adverse patient reactions
  • Educating patients and families using adult learning principles and behavior-change strategies
  • Supporting patients in developing self-management goals and tracking progress
  • Serving as case manager from initial assessment to successful program completion
  • Participating in departmental safety initiatives and continuous quality improvement

What You Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science
  • Current BCLS certification
  • ACLS certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of experience organizing and delivering Adult Health & Fitness programs
  • At least one year of experience in cardiac rehabilitation (internship experience accepted)
  • Graduate degree (MS, MA, or MEd) in Exercise Science or related field
  • Exercise Specialist certification or applicable ACSM certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • Commensurate work history may be accepted in lieu of certification at the discretion of the director
