Job description

Job Description
The College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) at Butler University invites applications for a full-time, nine-month faculty position for the 2026-2027 academic year, beginning on August 17, 2026. The successful candidate will be a dynamic, motivated, and collaborative faculty member who will teach undergraduate students in the Kinesiology program. Students in the Kinesiology major may choose to add concentrations in Pre-Professional Studies, Applied Human Performance, or a Sport Coaching minor.
Responsibilities
  • Teach on-campus, in-person courses. Teaching load will likely include: Introduction to Kinesiology, Prevention and Treatment of Injuries, and other courses based on expertise
  • Provide service to the Kinesiology Program, College, and University
  • Contribute to building an inclusive learning environment that provides equal opportunity for success to all

Required qualification
  • Earned Master's degree from an accredited university in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Sport Science, or Health Sciences, or a related discipline.

Preferred qualifications
While not everyone may meet all preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
  • Earned doctorate from an accredited university in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Sport Science, or Health Sciences, or a related discipline
  • Broad expertise in kinesiology disciplines and preparation to teach courses such as Introduction to Kinesiology; Fitness & Nutrition; Prevention and Treatment of Injuries; Measurement and Evaluation in Physical Activity, Sport, and Exercise; and supervise interns across a variety of placements.
  • Specialized certifications such as Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Certified Athletic Trainer, ACSM certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-EP), and/or Certified Mental Performance Coach (CMPC).
  • Interest and experience in teaching in responsive, human-centered, and experiential contexts.
  • Ability to support learners from a variety of backgrounds with strong, student-centered instructional methods.
