JOB DESCRIPTION

The physical therapist assistant assists physical therapists in the implementation of patient care rehabilitation programs to help reduce patient pain and increase mobility, function and strength.


Requirements

What You'll Do In This Role

You will meet patient goals and provide quality care by assessing, planning, treating, and progressing patients through outcomes-driven PT.

Evaluate and interpret findings to create PT treatment plans (in consultation with physicians, by prescription, or through direct access)

Deliver treatment including manual therapy, active neuromuscular release, myofascial release, trigger point release, positional release, dry needling, manual exercise, nonmanual exercise, corrective exercise, taping, ambulatory and functional activities, daily-living activities, and instruction in assistive/supportive device use. Specific training can be obtained for pelvic health, Lymphatic drainage and other specialty care.

Administer PT treatments including massage, traction, physical agents, moist packs, ultrasound, and directing treatments provided by assistants/aides. ย ย ย ย ย 

Track outcomes and adjust care by observing progress and recommending modifications, with specific tracking and measurement through use of PSFS and FOTO

Support discharge planning and continuity of care through HEP design, patient and caregiver instruction, and equipment ย ย ย ย ย recommendations

Document services accurately, maintain confidentiality, and comply with safety, infection-control, and regulatory requirements

Maintain equipment readiness through preventive maintenance and troubleshooting

Continue professional growth through workshops, publications, networks, and professional societies

Contribute to staff development through education and in-services as needed

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities, however careful monitoring of clinic aides to ensure treatment quality is required.


Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position walks, sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves continually during working hours. The position is subject to lifting objects weighing over 50 pounds, pushing wheel chairs, and transporting and supporting residents. The employee must be constantly alert for patient safety.


Expected Hours of Work

Expected work a minimum of hours a 40 hours per week.

Typically Monday through Thursday 7:50 to 5:00 and Friday 6:50 to 1:30 pm.

These times may vary depending upon patient schedule..


Required Education and Experience

  1. Associate Physical Therapist Degree
  2. Yearly maintenance of required CEU's
