Job Description CNC Machinist Location: Thomaston, CT Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Pay Range: $28.50-$33.50/hour DOE Shift: 1st Shift | 6:00 AM-2:30 PM or 7:00 AM-3:30 PM Overtime: Available as needed Position Overview M Force Partners is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to support precision manufacturing operations in Thomaston, CT. This 1st shift, contract-to-hire opportunity focuses on producing complex, tight-tolerance components using advanced multi-axis CNC equipment. The ideal CNC Machinist has at least 5 years of precision machining experience with hands-on expertise setting up and operating multi-axis CNC lathes, Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs), and/or 5-axis mill-turn equipment

This individual should be comfortable optimizing existing CNC programs, machining challenging materials, interpreting GD&T, and independently making adjustments to maintain quality and production requirements. This CNC Machinist position is well suited for someone who enjoys technically challenging machining work and wants an opportunity to transition into long-term permanent employment. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate multi-axis CNC lathes, VTLs, and 5-axis mill-turn machines Manufacture complex precision components, including shafts, housings, and related assemblies Optimize existing CNC programs to improve cycle times, machining performance, tool life, and part quality Install, set up, and adjust tooling, fixtures, machine offsets, and workholding Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T specifications, and manufacturing instructions Machine components to tight dimensional and geometric tolerances Perform in-process and final dimensional inspections Use micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and other precision measurement equipment Utilize automated inspection systems and CNC touch probes to verify dimensions when applicable Monitor machining operations and make independent adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and quality Troubleshoot tooling, setup, machining, and mechanical issues Document machine setups, inspections, tooling changes, and production results Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to resolve machining and manufacturing issues Perform routine preventive maintenance on CNC equipment Support production schedules while maintaining established quality standards Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Follow applicable quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures Required Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment Hands-on experience setting up and operating multi-axis CNC equipment Experience with VTLs and/or 5-axis mill-turn machines Ability to optimize existing CNC programs and make machining adjustments independently Strong blueprint and engineering drawing interpretation skills Strong working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Experience producing complex, tight-tolerance machined components Experience machining materials such as steel, cast iron, stainless steel, Inconel, or other heat-resistant alloys Proficiency with precision inspection equipment, including micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges Ability to install and adjust tooling, fixtures, work offsets, and machine parameters Strong mechanical aptitude and machining troubleshooting skills High school diploma or equivalent Ability to work independently while collaborating with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams U.S
