Who we are looking for:

The Live Production Video Engineer is responsible for the technical execution, operation, and support of professional live video productions, with a primary focus on vMix-based production environments. This position will play a key role in producing executive town halls, corporate broadcasts, live events, internal communications, recorded productions, and other enterprise video initiatives. The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with a production mindset. They should be comfortable independently configuring and operating a live production environment, troubleshooting issues in real time, collaborating with audio, video, IT, and event teams, and delivering a polished broadcast-quality product. In addition to live production responsibilities, this position will support post-production video editing and the continued development of the organization's live production capabilities, standards, and workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Live Production & vMix
  • Serve as a primary technical operator for vMix-based live productions.
  • Configure, operate, and troubleshoot vMix production systems for live and recorded events.
  • Operate live video switching including camera selection, transitions, overlays, graphics, playback, picture-in-picture, and other production elements.
  • Build and maintain vMix show files, presets, shortcuts, triggers, inputs, outputs, and production templates.
  • Manage video routing and signal flow throughout the production environment.
  • Configure and support multiple camera sources, presentation feeds, remote contributors, video playback, graphics, and other production inputs.
  • Manage recording, ISO recording, streaming, and program outputs as required.
  • Monitor video quality, frame rates, resolutions, latency, synchronization, and overall production integrity.
  • Support rehearsals, technical checks, production setup, live events, and post-event breakdown.
  • Configure and troubleshoot professional video production equipment and workflows.
  • Understand and support SDI, HDMI, NDI, SRT, IP-based video, and streaming workflows.
  • Troubleshoot video signal, connectivity, synchronization, latency, and routing issues during live productions.
  • Configure and operate cameras, PTZ cameras, converters, capture devices, encoders, monitors, multiviewers, and related production equipment.
  • Work closely with audio engineers to maintain proper audio/video synchronization.
  • Understand network requirements associated with NDI, SRT, streaming, and other IP-based production technologies.
  • Assist with the design, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement of live production systems.
3. Live Event Production
  • Participate in and support executive town halls, corporate meetings, internal broadcasts, special events, and other live productions.
  • Work closely with the Executive Producer, Production Director, Audio Engineer, camera operators, presenters, and other production personnel.
  • Execute production cues accurately and maintain awareness of the overall show flow.
  • Quickly diagnose technical problems and implement solutions without unnecessarily interrupting the live production.
  • Maintain a calm, professional approach during high-pressure live events.
  • Assist with production setup, equipment testing, rehearsals, show execution, and teardown.
  • Support productions at both corporate facilities and external venues.
  • Edit professional video content using Adobe Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Produce edited content from live events, interviews, corporate communications, promotional materials, and other productions.
  • Perform basic color correction, audio cleanup, graphics integration, transitions, and finishing.
  • Prepare content for multiple delivery platforms and formats.
  • Organize and maintain production footage, project files, graphics, audio, and other media assets.
  • Create highlight videos, event recaps, executive communications, and other short- and long-form content.

What you’ll need to be successful:

A successful Live Production Video Engineer is someone who can be given the production requirements for an event and take ownership of the technical video environment from setup through final delivery. This individual should be able to walk into a production, understand the signal flow, configure the vMix environment, validate every source and destination, identify potential failure points, participate in rehearsal, and confidently execute the live event. When an unexpected technical issue occurs during a production, this person is expected to quickly assess the problem, identify an alternative workflow when necessary, and keep the production moving.

Beyond operating equipment, this role will help establish repeatable production standards, documentation, templates, and technical workflows that allow the organization's live production capabilities to continue to mature.

The attributes needed to perform successfully within this role:

  • Strong hands-on experience with vMix in professional live production environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently configure and operate a multi-camera live production.
  • Strong understanding of professional video signal flow and production workflows.
  • Working knowledge of professional audio/video synchronization and signal troubleshooting.
  • Professional video editing experience using Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or comparable software.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems quickly during live productions.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings, early mornings, or other hours required for live events.
  • Ability to travel periodically for productions and corporate events.
  • Advanced experience with vMix 4K/Pro.
  • Understanding of production networking, VLANs, bandwidth requirements, multicast/unicast traffic, and other networking concepts related to IP video.
  • The successful candidate should be comfortable working with technologies and concepts including:
  • Ability to transport, set up, and break down professional video production equipment.
  • Ability to work for extended periods in live production environments.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move production equipment.
  • Ability to travel to production locations when required.
  • Flexibility to support production schedules outside normal business hours when necessary.

Required skills and experience:

  • This position requires 5 years of experience in professional live video production, broadcast, corporate production, or related experience.
  • Experience designing complex vMix workflows using shortcuts, triggers, scripting, external controllers, and automation.
  • Experience with NDI and SRT production environments.
  • Experience with PTZ camera systems and controllers.
  • Experience with professional production switchers, routing systems, converters, and capture hardware.
  • Experience with streaming platforms and enterprise webcast environments.
  • Familiarity with Dante or other network-based audio technologies.
  • Experience with Adobe After Effects or motion graphics.
  • Experience working with executive-level corporate productions.
  • Experience supporting multi-location or remote productions.
  • Experience integrating Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or other remote participants into professional live productions.
  • Experience with SDI, HDMI, NDI, streaming, capture, encoding, and video conversion technologies.
  • Experience working with professional cameras and/or PTZ camera systems.
  • Experience with live graphics, video playback, recording, and streaming.
