About the Role:

The Traveling Millwright/Field Service Technician plays a critical role in maintaining, repairing, and installing industrial machinery and equipment across various client sites, primarily based out of Milwaukee, WI but requiring travel throughout the United States. This position ensures that mechanical systems operate efficiently and safely, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity for clients. The role demands a hands-on approach to troubleshooting complex mechanical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and executing precise installations in diverse industrial environments. The technician will collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to diagnose problems, recommend solutions, and implement repairs in a timely manner. Ultimately, this position is essential for sustaining operational excellence and supporting the long-term reliability of critical industrial assets.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited millwright apprenticeship or equivalent technical training.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a millwright or field service technician in an industrial setting.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to travel extensively and work in various industrial environments, including manufacturing plants and construction sites.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in welding, hydraulics, or electrical systems.
  • Experience with CNC machinery, conveyors, or heavy industrial equipment.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Strong background in safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
  • Previous experience working in a traveling or field service capacity.

Responsibilities:

  • Travel to client locations across the United States to perform installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial machinery and mechanical systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical failures and troubleshoot equipment issues using technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks to ensure optimal equipment performance and reduce the likelihood of unexpected breakdowns.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to communicate status updates, recommend improvements, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate service records, document repairs and parts used, and comply with all safety regulations and company policies.

The required skills enable the technician to effectively diagnose and repair complex mechanical systems, ensuring minimal downtime and high reliability. Proficiency in reading technical documents and schematics is essential for accurate installation and maintenance tasks.
