Job description

Are we the road to your future?

We are currently searching for an experienced Civil Gas Engineer to support our Midwest Region located in Lexington, KY.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Design and oversee natural gas transmission and distribution systems
  • Prepare and review engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for gas infrastructure projects
  • Supervise technicians and drafters in preparing gas system plans
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Prepare and submit required documentation and permits
  • Perform site inspections and monitor construction progress
  • Use CAD and other engineering software for system design and modeling
  • Communicate with stakeholders including city officials, contractors, and the public
  • Provide technical support and training to junior staff

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain
  • 1 – 3 years of experience in gas engineering or related field
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
  • If applicable to the position, a post offer fit for duty evaluation to ensure the individual can safely perform the essential functions of the role
  • Valid driver’s license
