About the role
D-Wave is seeking a Technical Account Manager (TAM) in New Haven, CT to lead technical engagements with research clients interested in exploring D-Wave's new dual rail qubit systems and simulators. In this client-facing role you'll act as a trusted technical advisor externally, helping customers identify use cases, solve complex problems, and achieve successful adoption of the platform by leveraging error awareness in quantum algorithms. Internally, you'll collaborate closely with sales, product, professional services and business development teams to ensure customer needs are met and value is delivered, acting as the voice of the customer.
This role can be Onsite or Hybrid for those living within a commutable distance.
What you'll do
  • Support customer's quantum computing programming workflows by advising best practices for implementing algorithms using D-Wave's Ocean SDK, Leap APIs, and helping debug common code problems
  • Serve as a technical resource on quantum computing, industry trends, and competitive positioning
  • Present our quantum computing capabilities to research prospects, understanding their most critical computational challenges and mapping potential project ideas accordingly
  • Translate and present the D-Wave's vision, strategy, and product roadmap to both executive-level and technical stakeholders at research organizations
  • Communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively across multiple platforms and audiences
  • Demonstrate a strong customer support mindset, meeting clients where they are and delivering candid, thoughtful guidance
  • Deliver technical presentations at large events such as conferences, webinars, and seminars
  • Support marketing efforts by hosting webinars, staffing conference booths, and representing the company at industry events
  • Hold regular technical meetings on active research projects with clients, ensuring they understand and leverage the error detection capabilities of the dual rail system
  • Build and maintain long-term technical relationships with customer teams across the project lifecycle
  • Identify and recommend new projects that can leverage D-Wave's solutions
  • Convey customer requirements to internal product and development teams, advocating for client needs
  • Expect 30%-50% travel to conferences, client meetings, training sessions, and sales events

About You
  • PhD in Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM field; post-doc experience a plus
  • Must be fluent in English
  • 5+ years of hands-on Python and Qiskit programming experience
  • Familiarity with standard algorithms for gate-model quantum computing; specialization in areas of quantum chemistry, quantum machine learning, or materials science a plus
  • Strong foundation in quantum information science and quantum computing
  • Experience with tools and platforms such as GitHub and REST APIs
  • Proven ability to communicate technical content to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Project management experience is a plus, but not required
  • Experience in a technical customer-facing role (e.g. Sales Engineer, Technical Account Manager, Presales, Solution Integrator, Solution Architect, Customer Success) in enterprise software or comparable presales account management experience with clients in large research organizations a plus
  • A record of contributing to quantum computing applications, quantum error correction, or quantum computing algorithms is highly desired
