What is executive protection?

Executive protection is a specialized security service focused on safeguarding high-profile individuals, such as corporate executives, celebrities, or political figures, from potential threats like physical harm, kidnapping, or harassment. This service often includes risk assessments, travel security, secure transportation, and advance planning to ensure a client's safety at all times. Executive protection professionals are trained in security protocols, defensive driving, emergency response, and sometimes medical aid, allowing them to respond effectively to a variety of situations. The goal is to allow clients to carry out their daily activities with minimal disruption while maintaining the highest level of safety.

What is executive protection?

Executive protection involves providing security for corporate executives, VIPs, celebrities, and other people who need safeguarding against public threats. Increasingly, these threats are both physical and digital, and many executives require increased protection from hackers who try to steal personal information for blackmail or to expose executives and celebrities in the media. Your duties as an executive protection specialist can include performing risk assessment, testing security systems, determining which executive or persons of interest are at higher risk, and developing methods to keep them safe.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an executive protection professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Executive Protection professional, you need expertise in risk assessment, security protocols, defensive tactics, and often a background in law enforcement or military service. Familiarity with surveillance technology, secure communications systems, and certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) are commonly required. Discretion, situational awareness, quick decision-making, and strong interpersonal skills are essential soft skills for building trust and responding effectively to threats. These skills and qualities are critical for ensuring the safety, privacy, and confidence of high-profile clients in unpredictable environments.

What are some common challenges faced by executive protection professionals, and how can they be addressed?

Executive Protection professionals often encounter challenges such as adapting to rapidly changing schedules, managing high-stress environments, and maintaining vigilance during extended periods. They must remain discreet while ensuring the safety of their principal, which requires excellent communication and quick decision-making. Building strong coordination with local law enforcement and other security team members is essential to address these challenges effectively and ensure seamless operations.

Job description

About the Role

The Executive Assistant to the CEO is the person who creates structure, clarity, and momentum at the center of our organization. You will enable our CEO to focus on what matters most โ€” managing time, coordinating workflows, and making sure the right things move forward across the leadership team.

While the CEO is your primary partner, you will also support other members of our executive team โ€” coordinating across leaders, balancing competing priorities, and keeping the whole C-suite running with the same consistency and follow-through.

This is also the senior-most administrative role at Listen Technologies. You will set the standard for administrative support across the company, and as our team grows, you will manage the administrative function โ€” providing direction today and supervising administrative and executive support staff as those roles are added.

If you are the person who anticipates what is needed before anyone asks, follows through without being chased, and takes quiet satisfaction in a well-run operation, we would like to meet you.

What You Will Do Own the CEOโ€™s time and priorities
  • Manage and optimize a complex calendar so it reflects real priorities.
  • Serve as a thoughtful gatekeeper โ€” balancing accessibility with focus.
  • Anticipate scheduling conflicts and resolve them before they become problems.
Support the executive team
  • Provide executive support to other C-suite leaders โ€” meetings, travel, expenses, and document preparation.
  • Balance and prioritize requests across multiple executives with sound judgment.
  • Support executive team meetings, offsites, and planning sessions end to end.
Drive executive coordination
  • Prepare agendas, materials, and briefing documents for key meetings.
  • Capture action items and track commitments through to completion.
  • Keep momentum on the initiatives that matter most.
Lead the administrative function
  • Supervise and provide work direction to administrative and executive support staff, including performance feedback and workload prioritization.
  • Establish consistent standards, practices, and tools for administrative support company-wide.
  • Coordinate coverage and cross-training so support never lapses.
  • Mentor and develop administrative team members.
  • Partner with HR on hiring and onboarding as the function grows.
Support the board and leadership team
  • Coordinate board meeting logistics and pre-read materials.
  • Ensure deadlines are met and materials are complete and polished.
Manage travel and communications
  • Build detailed domestic and international itineraries that anticipate needs.
  • Draft and edit correspondence in the CEOโ€™s voice.
  • Handle sensitive personnel, financial, and strategic information with complete discretion.
What You Bring
  • 3+ years supporting a senior executive, ideally a CEO or C-suite leader.
  • Experience juggling priorities across multiple senior stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and genuine attention to detail.
  • Strong writing โ€” you can draft clearly, and in someone elseโ€™s voice.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) and collaboration tools like Teams.
  • Professionalism and discretion with confidential information.
Nice to Have
  • Experience supporting an executive team or multiple C-suite leaders at once.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or directing the work of administrative staff.
  • Familiarity with AI tools.
  • Experience with board meeting preparation and executive offsites.
  • Background in a fast-paced, high-growth company.
What Success Looks Like

You are highly organized with a low tolerance for things falling through the cracks. You stay calm and steady when things move fast. You build warm, professional relationships across the executive team and the wider company. You are comfortable working behind the scenes while genuinely influencing outcomes โ€” and you set a standard for administrative excellence that others want to meet.

Working Conditions
  • Full-time, on-site at our Bluffdale, Utah headquarters.
  • Occasional domestic travel.
  • Some flexibility required around board meetings, executive events, and fiscal close.
Equal Employment Opportunity

Listen Technologies is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, or any other status protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws.
