Full Time, Rotate

Reporting to the Lead Physician Assistant (PA) and Chief Executive Officer, the Neurosurgery Physician Assistant, under the supervision of the surgeon, performs advanced diagnostic and therapeutic tasks related to surgery and trauma. Acts as a first or second assistant in surgery. Participates in pre and post-operative patient care. Complies with all appropriate safety and infection control standards. Participates in quality assessment and continuous quality improvement/performance improvement activities. The Medical Staff Bylaws and Title 16 of the California Administrative Code grant the PA's privileges as outlined. Additionally, a Tenet Hospital shall only enter into an employment or independent contractor relationship with a NPP to perform services for purposes of enhancing the efficiency of patient care services. NPPs shall not perform any service for which a Physician is responsible pursuant to the Bylaws, Rules and Regulations or policies of the Medical Staff or for which, in whole or in part, any Physician receives payment (NPP policy).

Minimum Education:

Required: Bachelors Degree or equivalent, with completion of a Physicians Assistant course

Minimum Experience/Skills::
1 to 2 years experience preferred

License/Certificates/Credentials:

Current; CA State Physicians Assistant License granted by the Physician Assistant Examining Committee and DEA registration, BLS and ACLS certifications.

Physical Demands:

Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking. Lift/position up to 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 50 lbs of force. Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, manual dexterity and mobility, ability to move quickly.

Vision Requirements: Sufficient perceptive acuity (vision and hearing) to perform all the related duties of the position.

Working Conditions:

  • Regularly exposed to the risk of contagious and blood borne diseases
  • Subject to varying and unpredictable situations
  • Exposure to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, illness) and emergency and crisis situations
  • Subject to irregular hours
