Senior BI Report Developer - Analytics Engineering
Location:
Glendale, CA (Hybrid - onsite 2-3 days per week)
Pay Rate: $90.60/hour
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior BI Report Developer to lead the design, development, and modernization of enterprise reporting solutions. This role is responsible for delivering executive and operational dashboards, maintaining governed semantic models, and developing analytical reporting solutions that support strategic business decisions.
The ideal candidate combines strong SQL expertise with hands-on BI reporting experience and has experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and accelerate dashboard modernization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise dashboards and reporting solutions.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable reporting assets aligned with established data governance standards.
  • Develop and manage semantic layers, including metrics, attributes, hierarchies, prompts, and security models.
  • Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries across enterprise data platforms.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to create curated datasets, aggregation tables, and performance-optimized reporting structures.
  • Perform data validation, profiling, and reconciliation activities to ensure reporting accuracy.
  • Support the design and implementation of dimensional data models, including fact and dimension tables.
  • Lead efforts to modernize legacy reporting solutions into contemporary web-based dashboard experiences.
  • Utilize approved AI coding and productivity tools to assist with SQL development, documentation, validation, and reporting workflows while maintaining appropriate human oversight and quality standards.
  • Conduct testing and validation activities to ensure reporting functionality, security, and metric consistency.
  • Mentor team members on reporting best practices, governance principles, and effective use of AI-assisted development techniques.
Required Qualifications
Business Intelligence & Reporting
  • 8+ years of experience developing enterprise BI reports and dashboards.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering reporting solutions from requirements gathering through deployment and support.
  • Strong understanding of governed metrics, semantic modeling, and enterprise reporting standards.
SQL & Data Engineering
  • Advanced SQL development experience with the ability to write and optimize complex queries.
  • Experience with:
    • Multi-table joins
    • Common Table Expressions (CTEs)
    • Recursive queries
    • Stored procedures
    • Dynamic SQL
    • Data profiling and reconciliation
    • Query performance tuning and optimization
  • Experience working with modern data platforms such as SQL Server, Snowflake, Databricks SQL, PostgreSQL, or similar technologies.
Data Warehousing
  • Strong understanding of dimensional modeling concepts, including:
    • Star and snowflake schemas
    • Fact and dimension table design
    • Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCDs)
    • Conformed dimensions
  • Experience supporting reporting solutions within modern data warehouse architectures.
AI-Assisted Development
  • Professional experience utilizing AI-enabled development tools to support coding, documentation, validation, or analytics workflows.
  • Understanding of AI limitations and the importance of human validation in production environments.
Required Technical Skills
  • SQL
  • Python
  • Experience working with AI-assisted coding tools
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with enterprise BI platforms such as MicroStrategy.
  • Experience with additional reporting tools, including Tableau or Power BI.
  • Knowledge of modern web technologies used in analytics applications (e.g., React or similar frameworks).
  • Experience with financial or regulatory reporting environments.
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes and cloud-based analytics platforms.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Prior experience mentoring analysts, developers, or other team members.
