Job description

Role: Cloud Database Administrator (DBA)
Location: Remote
Duration: Full Time

Responsibility:
  • We are seeking a skilled Cloud Database Administrator (DBA) with extensive experience in AWS (Amazon Web Services) to join our dynamic team
  • As a Cloud DBA, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and optimization of our cloud-based databases, ensuring maximum performance, reliability, and security
  • Support AWS cloud-based databases, including Aurora, RDS for Postgres, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, Oracle, etc
  • AWS PostgreSQL Terraform AWS RDS Proven experience as a PostgreSQL DBA, with a strong understanding of PostgreSQL database administration and performance tuning
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automating database administration tasks
  • Solid understanding of database design principles, data modelling, and query optimization
  • Strong knowledge of database security best practices, including user access management, encryption, and data masking
  • Experience in implementing high availability and disaster recovery solutions for PostgreSQL databases
  • Familiarity with database monitoring and diagnostic tools
  • Understanding of APIs and their integration with databases
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Follow good practices in creating users and roles, and providing access to the end users
  • Manage, monitor, and optimize PostgreSQL databases deployed on the AWS cloud platform (RDS, Aurora, and EC2)
  • Design and implement database solutions, including schema design, capacity planning, and data partitioning strategies
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery capabilities for the PostgreSQL databases
  • Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, and database tuning
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and data integrity concerns
  • Strong expertise in SQL and hands-on experience with query optimization and performance tuning
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize database queries, schema design, and data access patterns
  • Implement and enforce database security best practices, including user access management, encryption, and data masking
  • Develop and maintain database-related documentation, including standards, procedures, and performance-tuning guidelines
  • Work closely with infrastructure and DevOps teams to ensure smooth database operations, including database provisioning, patching, and upgrades
  • Utilize scripting languages (eg, PowerShell, Bash) to automate routine database administration tasks and enhance operational efficiency
  • Integrate PostgreSQL databases with external systems and applications using APIs.
