Our IT organization plays a strategic role in enabling growth, operational efficiency, and repeatable integration of acquired entities. We offer high-visibility impact and a collaborative, fast-paced culture.
About the role
The Enterprise Architect defines and evolves our enterprise technology strategy to support a cloud-first, acquisition-driven energy production business. This role shapes scalable, secure, and cost-effective platforms that enable growth, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and repeatable integration of acquired entities. It is a hands-on strategic role that blends enterprise-level vision with practical architecture and delivery support, reporting to the Director of IT / Infrastructure.
What you'll be responsible for
• Define and maintain the enterprise architecture roadmap aligned with business strategy
• Lead cloud-first architecture strategy (Azure/AWS/Google), ensuring scalability, resilience, and cost optimization
• Establish reference architectures, design standards, and integration patterns
• Govern technology selection and rationalization to reduce redundancy and technical debt
• Define enterprise application strategy (ERP, land systems, accounting, SCADA/OT integration, regulatory systems)
• Lead master data and data governance strategy
• Promote API-first and integration-platform strategies
• Establish and lead Architecture Review Board (ARB)
• Partner with Security to embed security controls in all architectural designs
• Ensure architecture aligns with regulatory and compliance requirements (SOX, SOC 2, NERC CIP where applicable)
• Act as trusted advisor to executive leadership and translate business strategy into technology capability models
• Lead IT due diligence for acquisitions and develop integration roadmaps to rapidly onboard acquired companies
• Drive system consolidation, identity integration, data integration, and cost synergies
• Establish repeatable acquisition playbooks
• Provide guidance on emerging technologies relevant to oil & gas (automation, AI, digital field, predictive maintenance)
Required experience & skills
• Enterprise architecture experience including operating models, standards, and governance (reference architectures, decision records, architecture reviews)
• Cloud platform architecture expertise in Azure or AWS, including landing zones, networking, identity, and resiliency patterns
• Security-by-design knowledge (IAM, segmentation, encryption, logging/monitoring)
• Application and SaaS evaluation skills (ERP/finance, HRIS, CRM) including fit-gap analysis and vendor due diligence
• Integration architecture experience (API-first, eventing, ETL/ELT, iPaaS/middleware)
• Data architecture and governance fundamentals including master data concepts, data quality, lineage, and analytics enablement
• Working knowledge of OT/IT integration considerations (SCADA/historians, network segmentation) in asset-intensive environments
• Experience supporting M&A integrations: due diligence, Day 1/Day 2 planning, and repeatable onboarding playbooks
• 10+ years of progressive IT experience across infrastructure, applications, and/or data domains
• 5+ years in enterprise, solution, or platform architecture roles
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Nice-to-haves
• Certifications: TOGAF, Azure/AWS Architect, CISSP or similar
• Experience in upstream, midstream, or energy trading environments
• Familiarity with production accounting, land systems, or regulatory reporting platforms
• Experience building an architecture function from the ground up
• Oil & gas or asset-intensive industry background
Education
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required. Equivalent practical experience considered. Relevant certifications (TOGAF, Azure/AWS Architect, CISSP) preferred.
Pay & benefits
• $156,000 - $187,000 / yr
• Performance-based Short-Term Incentive Plan (STIP): 25%-30% of base salary
• Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
• Retirement savings plan with 6% employer match
• Paid time off and 12 company holidays per year
