Job description

Our Company
Arch is a Series B financial technology company that automates the management of private investments, improving access, understanding, and the human experience of investing across asset classes.
Private investments such as venture capital, hedge funds, and private equity, make up roughly 25% of the investment universe. Traditionally, investors, advisors, banks, families, and managers track hundreds of investments in complicated spreadsheets, file folders, and busy inboxes. Not only is this tedious and time-consuming, but it is rife with opportunity for manual data entry errors, inconsistent reporting, and lost information. Enter, Arch.
Arch delivers standardized data, documents, and insights in a single platform, avoiding the need to chase information across dozens or hundreds of 'portals'. Our purpose is to save investors' time while empowering them to make more informed investment decisions, leading to better financial outcomes.
We are a fast-growing, dynamic team of 200+, serving over 400 clients, including several of America's largest banks, families, and financial institutions. We've over doubled the size of the company every year since inception and we are looking to hire in all departments as we scale.
The Role
Arch is seeking a founding Head of Finance to lead and scale our finance function during a period of rapid growth. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will own the company's financial strategy, planning, reporting, and operational rigor, while serving as a key thought partner to the leadership team.
This is a highly impactful role that sits at the intersection of strategy, operations, and execution. You will build the financial infrastructure that enables Arch to scale efficiently, provide visibility into company performance, support fundraising and board reporting, and help drive critical business decisions across every department.
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable building sophisticated financial models, partnering with functional leaders on strategic initiatives, and rolling up their sleeves to improve processes and systems. You thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy solving complex business problems, and have a strong desire to help build an enduring company.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Own accounting and financial operations: Oversee accounting, billing, tax, accounts payable, accounts receivable, monthly close processes, and financial controls. Ensure accurate financial reporting, strong compliance practices, and operational excellence across the company's financial infrastructure.
  • Tell the financial story: Prepare board materials, investor updates, fundraising analyses, and executive reporting. Translate complex financial information into clear narratives that support decision-making among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Own cash and capital planning: Monitor cash flow, runway, and capital needs. Build forecasting frameworks that ensure the company can make informed investment decisions while maintaining financial discipline.
  • Guide strategic decision-making: Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team. Evaluate growth initiatives, pricing strategies, resource allocation decisions, and other high-impact opportunities through a financial lens.
  • Own company planning: Lead the annual budgeting process, long-range planning, and recurring forecasting cycles. Partner with department leaders to align investments, headcount, and operating plans with company goals.
  • Drive FP&A: Build and maintain the financial models that power decision-making across the business. Develop reporting, dashboards, and KPI frameworks that provide visibility into company performance and key operating drivers.
  • Improve business performance: Analyze trends across revenue, customer acquisition, retention, pricing, and operating expenses. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen unit economics, and accelerate growth.
  • Build scalable financial operations: Design and implement the processes, systems, and controls needed to support a rapidly growing company. Partner with legal and external advisors to ensure strong financial governance and operational rigor.
  • Build the function: Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing finance organization. Establish best practices, create repeatable processes, and scale the team alongside the growth of the business.

Reach out to us if you have:
  • 6+ years of experience in finance, FP&A, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, strategic finance, or related fields
  • Experience leading finance functions within high-growth technology or SaaS companies
  • Exceptional financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills
  • Strong understanding of SaaS business models, recurring revenue metrics, and company operating drivers
  • Experience partnering directly with executive leadership teams and presenting to boards or investors
  • A track record of building scalable financial processes, systems, and reporting frameworks
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate financial insights into business recommendations
  • Strong business judgment and a pragmatic, solutions-oriented mindset
  • The ability to operate strategically while remaining highly hands-on
  • A desire to work in person with a high-performing team in New York City

Bonus points if you have:
  • Experience in fintech, wealth management, alternative investments, or financial services
  • Experience supporting venture-backed companies through multiple stages of growth
  • Prior fundraising, investor relations, or corporate development experience
  • Experience implementing and scaling financial systems and business intelligence tools
  • CPA, CFA, MBA, or other advanced financial credentials
  • Experience building and managing finance teams from the ground up
  • Familiarity with the operational and financial dynamics of enterprise SaaS businesses serving financial institutions
A Note about us:
Most of our full-time roles are based onsite at our New York City office, where our team thrives on in-person collaboration and dynamic teamwork. Being onsite daily enables us to build strong connections, move quickly, and deliver exceptional service to our clients.
For select roles, we are also open to candidates based in Boston. If a role is open to Boston, it will be listed explicitly in the job location.
We encourage applicants who are located in or open to relocating to the listed location to apply and join us in this hands-on, collaborative environment
Some perks of working for Arch include:
  • Strong Team - You'll be backed by a strong team that consistently exceeds client expectations and ships new products quickly.
  • Your work is high impact - Being part of a small team means you have real responsibility and impact from day one. You'll be involved in discussions that drive the growth and direction of our platform from the very beginning.
  • Product Market Fit - We have strong product market fit, exceptionally low churn, and have grown mostly organically through word of mouth.
  • Team community and camaraderie - We have enormous trust in each other and always do what we can do to support one another. We're always ready to step in to help.
  • Great office: Our new home at 199 Water Street gives us a beautiful, energizing space to come together as a team, collaborate more easily, and keep building the next chapter of Arch.
  • Lunch is on Us - We'll keep the team fueled with lunch in the office, whether you're catching up with teammates, talking through an idea, or just taking a well-earned break.
