Job description

Responsibilities

Peraton Labs is seeking a Senior Analytics & Visualization Engineer to support the BNATCS CTO DCC (Digital Command Center) team to design and develop decision-support dashboards that transform complex program, operational, schedule, requirements, risk, and aviation data into clear, trusted, and actionable insights.

The ideal candidate combines dashboard development, analytics, product thinking, and stakeholder communication skills to deliver AI-enabled workflows to rapidly prototype, validate, and deliver DCC capabilities. This role requires someone who can move beyond predefined requirements and shape dashboard concepts, identify meaningful metrics, tell compelling stories through data, and brief technical and executive stakeholders directly.

The most qualified candidates for this position will think like a product strategist, build like an analytics engineer, and communicate like a trusted advisor while maintaining the technical and analytical rigor expected of Digital Command Center products.

Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Translate ambiguous stakeholder needs and operational questions into dashboard concepts, product requirements, metrics, and analytical workflows
  • Define KPIs, thresholds, scoring logic, and analytical methods supporting Digital Command Center products
  • Assess data quality, completeness, consistency, timeliness, lineage, and analytical usability
  • Analyze structured and semi-structured data to identify trends, dependencies, gaps, anomalies, and decision-relevant insights
  • Partner with data teams, systems engineers, AI/ML scientists, and mission stakeholders to ensure data is accurate, traceable, and fit for use
  • Define dashboard information architecture, navigation, filters, drilldowns, alerts, and workstream specific views
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain interactive dashboards, analytical applications, executive views, and decision-support products using AI, prompt-driven development, low-code tools, visualization platforms, and conventional coding methods as required
  • Validate AI-generated code, queries, calculations, metrics, visualizations, and narrative outputs
  • Create clear data narratives that explain what happened, why it matters, and what actions stakeholders should consider
  • Lead dashboard demonstrations, product reviews, and analytical briefings for technical, program, and executive audiences
  • Gather user feedback and translate it into prioritized enhancements, backlog items, and product roadmap recommendations
  • Contribute to dashboard standards, reusable templates, visualization components, prompt and memory libraries, metric catalogs, and product documentation
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience with a BS/BA, 6+ years with a MS/MA, or 3+ years with a PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Human-Computer Interaction, Data Visualization, or a related technical discipline
  • Hands-on proficiency with Python, SQL, JavaScript, TypeScript, R, or similar languages
  • Proficiency with one or more dashboard or visualization platforms
  • Experience working with relational data, JSON, CSV, Parquet, APIs, and cloud-hosted datasets
  • Strong understanding of data visualization, information hierarchy, user interaction, and dashboard usability
  • Familiarity with LLMs, prompt engineering, AI-assisted code generation, and human-in-the-loop review
  • Experience developing production-quality dashboards, analytical applications, data visualizations, or decision-support products
  • Experience defining and validating metrics, KPIs, analytical logic, trend analyses, scoring models, or decision-support methods
  • Experience translating operational or stakeholder needs into analytical requirements and measurable outputs
  • Ability to inspect, validate, and troubleshoot AI-generated code, queries, metrics, and analytical outputs
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate findings-through visual storytelling, concise narratives, and decision-oriented recommendations-to senior leaders, customers, product owners, or operational stakeholders
  • Strong analytical judgment, creativity, communication skills, and comfort working with evolving requirements
  • US Citizenship with ability to obtain/maintain an FAA Public Trust

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Tableau, Power BI, Grafana, Plotly, Dash, Streamlit, Superset, Qlik, Looker, D3.js, React, Vega-lite, Highcharts, ECharts, or ArcGIS
  • Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, data lakes, data warehouses, or lakehouse architectures
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT, data pipelines, APIs, metadata, lineage, data catalogs, data quality, schemas, or streaming data
  • Experience with agentic AI architectures-including RAG, context engineering, tool-using agents, and structured output validation-and frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, or LlamaIndex
  • Experience with forecasting, anomaly detection, risk scoring, dependency analysis, schedule analytics, scenario analysis, simulation, optimization, or geospatial analysis
  • Experience with product discovery, design thinking, wireframing, prototyping, usability testing, accessibility, Section 508, and color-blind-safe visualization design
  • Experience supporting FAA, NAS, aviation, air traffic operations, transportation, defense, command centers, infrastructure modernization, or other safety-critical operational environments
