Dev Technology Group is seeking a Senior UI/UX Front-End Design Lead to drive strategy and design execution across a large federal agency. This role will serve as the central design authority supporting multiple delivery teams and applications, ensuring consistent, intuitive, and mission-aligned user experiences across diverse technology stacks. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who enjoys working alongside our technical project teams and our federal customers to recommend and deliver UI/UX assets and design constructs that our teams can use quickly and efficiently utilize across a variety of technical environments (e.g. React-based custom applications, Microsoft Power App solutions, etc.). The ideal candidate is well versed in user experience strategy and accessibility standards, and thrives in complex, mission-driven environments.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 8 or more years of experience in UI/UX design and implementation, including working alongside or embedded within development teams to help them deliver faster while ensuring a professional, modern, intuitive user experience that is compliant with federal design standards.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Serve as the UI/UX SME and translate business requirements and UX strategy into elegant, intuitive, and high-performing user interfaces for development teams to implement
  • Drive UI/UX best practices across programs, ensuring consistency, usability, and accessibility
  • Establish and maintain reusable component libraries and design systems leveraging frameworks such as Bootstrap, Material UI, and Trussworks
  • Ensure Section 508 compliance and adherence to WCAG 2.x standards across applications
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product owners, designers, backend engineers, and stakeholders to deliver user-centered solutions
  • Partner with project and client leadership to shape a modernization roadmap and implement modernization initiatives and continuous proactive improvement of the development processes while staying current with emerging frontend technologies
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts to identify and resolve complex UI/UX and performance issues
  • Provide final UI/UX review and sign-off of developed apps across multiple tech platforms (e.g. M365 / Power Platform, ServiceNow, etc.) and front-end development teams (e.g. React based apps) prior to customer User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and rollout
  • Lead creation of high-fidelity prototypes and wireframes for multiple teams supporting disparate tech stacks
  • Develop repeatable design-to-development workflows to accelerate delivery across teams
  • Conduct usability testing and design validation sessions with development teams
  • Proactively coach and mentor development teams on UI/UX best practices and modern design approaches

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction & Design, or a related technical discipline strongly preferred OR related professional experience in lieu of a degree acceptable.
  • Over 8 years of hands-on experience in UI/UX design and implementation, applying design standards and collaborating closely with development teams to deliver consistent, intuitive user experiences.
  • 3-5 years of experience leading design initiatives across multiple applications or crossfunctional teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in HTML5 and CSS3, and in design tools such as Figma or Adobe suite
  • Experience designing scalable component-based design systems
  • Strong understanding of accessibility standards, including Section 508 and WCAG
  • Proven experience optimizing frontend performance and application scalability
  • Experience working in Agile / DevSecOps development environments
  • Demonstrated ability to lead discussions regarding UI/UX planning and influence frontend strategy
  • Experience with React and Power Platforms
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Portfolio showcasing enterprise-level UI/UX work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Human-Computer Interaction and Design or similar area of study
  • Experience leading frontend modernization or transformation initiatives
  • Familiarity with Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, or other UX prototyping tools
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and CI/CD integration for frontend deployments
  • Experience designing solutions that follow USWDS and support federal or regulated environments
