Job description

At the core of Compass we believe in the power of community and connection, which is why we are committed to our group-based programming. As a group therapist, you will spend the majority of your time with our patients facilitating evidenced based groups using modalities like CBT, DBT, and ACT. We are seeking new and experienced clinicians with a passion for delivering dynamic and informative groups for our patients. Our centrally located Chicago office is nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of North Center, not to mention the social events hosted on our fully furnished rooftop! 

This is a part-time position Monday through Friday with the specific schedule based on program needs. The scheduling will cover evening hours, between 12:00-8:00 PM CST.  

What You'll Do:

  • Developing and implementing DBT/CBT skill groups, working with ages 8-14 years old
  • Providing crisis intervention and staff support, as needed
  • Developing and documenting treatment plans and weekly update
  • Co-facilitating creative expression and other experiential therapeutic groups
  • Assisting program director in supporting families through phone coaching and follow-up calls
  • Checking in with treatment team about changes and progress for individual patients
  • Providing clinical observations and insights during interdisciplinary meetings
  • Providing individual support to patients, as needed
  • Providing support to other team members in various treatment groups
  • Providing guidance and support for milieu staff during skills and executive functioning therapy activities/instruction
  • Participating in discharge planning for patients
  • Other duties, as assigned

Who You Are:

  • Master's in Social Work/Clinical Counseling or other relevant Master's/Doctoral programs
  • Hold or be eligible for one of the following licensures: LSW, LPC, LCSW, LCPC, MSW, AMFT, LMFT, PsyD, or PhD (preferred) 
  • 1 + year of post-Master's clinical experience, or a relevant master's level internship
  • Possess a core skill set of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Experience with patients in crisis, and a strong passion for working within high acuity environments
