Responsibilities
The Onboarding Inside Account Manager (OBIAM) is more than a sales training role-it's the launchpad for a successful career in enterprise technology sales. As an OIAM, you'll combine customer relationship management, consultative selling, and operational excellence while learning from experienced Enterprise Account Executives (EAEs).
In this hybrid role, you'll serve as both an Inside Account Manager (IAM) and Client Experience Specialist, helping new customers experience the best of Connection from day one. You'll partner closely with Enterprise Account Executives, manufacturers, distribution partners, and internal support teams to onboard customers, uncover new business opportunities, drive revenue growth, and deliver exceptional service throughout the customer lifecycle.
If you're motivated by building relationships, solving business challenges, and developing a career in technology sales, this role offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and a clear path for growth.
What You'll Do
Create Exceptional First Impressions
You'll lead a world-class onboarding experience that helps new customers quickly realize the value of partnering with Connection.
  • Deliver a personalized, "white glove" onboarding experience for new enterprise clients.
  • Introduce customers to their dedicated Connection team and available resources.
  • Demonstrate our technology solutions, customer portal, reporting capabilities, and self-service tools.
  • Understand each customer's business priorities, challenges, and strategic initiatives.
  • Configure customer portals, standards, and purchasing workflows to align with business needs.
  • Build trusted relationships with key customer stakeholders from the very beginning.
Develop into a Trusted Sales Advisor
Working alongside experienced Enterprise Account Executives, you'll learn to identify opportunities, support sales initiatives, and contribute to business growth.
  • Support one or more Enterprise Account Executives with proactive sales activities.
  • Develop and manage customer quotes, including technically configured solutions.
  • Maintain a four-hour response goal for customer quote requests.
  • Register opportunities and manage deal registrations with manufacturer partners.
  • Follow up on active proposals and sales opportunities.
  • Identify cross-sell, upsell, and whitespace opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Conduct spend analysis and proactively recommend new technology solutions.
Build Strong Customer Relationships
You'll become a trusted business partner by providing responsive service and strategic account support.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with customers, manufacturers, distributors, and internal teams.
  • Build relationships across multiple customer departments and decision-makers.
  • Help customers maximize the value of their technology investments.
  • Partner with customers on pricing strategies, standards management, and procurement optimization.
  • Deliver Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and proactive account recommendations.
Lead Operational Excellence
You'll coordinate the resources needed to deliver a seamless customer experience from quote through fulfillment.
  • Oversee daily account activity to ensure timely order processing and issue resolution.
  • Partner with Inside Sales Support to maintain order accuracy and meet shipment expectations.
  • Assist with pricing reviews, order escalations, and complex open-order management.
  • Support return merchandise authorization (RMA) escalations.
  • Ensure Salesforce opportunities remain accurate and current.
  • Analyze customer activity and prepare meaningful business reports.
Collaborate and Lead
As your knowledge grows, you'll become a key resource for both customers and teammates.
  • Coordinate activities across Sales, Operations, Customer Support, and manufacturer partners.
  • Mentor and guide Inside Sales Support Representatives on customer priorities.
  • Share best practices and contribute to team success.
  • Support new Enterprise Account Executives during onboarding by introducing company resources, sales processes, and operational tools.
  • Help accelerate new EAE productivity through coaching, collaboration, and ongoing support.
What Success Looks Like
Successful OIAMs:
  • Build lasting customer relationships based on trust and responsiveness.
  • Deliver an outstanding onboarding experience that drives customer confidence.
  • Identify and develop new revenue opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Meet or exceed sales, gross profit, and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Balance multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Collaborate effectively across teams to deliver seamless customer experiences.
  • Continuously grow their sales, technical, and business knowledge.
Why Join Connection?
At Connection, you'll gain exposure to enterprise technology sales while working alongside experienced professionals who are invested in your success. You'll receive hands-on training, mentorship, and opportunities to build meaningful customer relationships, develop consultative selling skills, and grow into increasingly strategic sales roles.
If you're driven by learning, collaboration, and delivering exceptional customer experiences, this is an opportunity to build a rewarding career with a company that values innovation, partnership, and continuous growth.
