JOB DESCRIPTION
The Technical Writer supports the successful delivery of electrical utility capital and operational projects by developing, maintaining, and improving project documentation, procedures, reports, and communication materials. This position works closely with project managers, project controllers, engineers, construction managers, planners, regulatory teams, operations personnel, and executive stakeholders to translate complex technical and project information into clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation.
The role is responsible for ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance of project management documents supporting transmission, distribution, substation, generation, and grid modernization projects. The Technical Writer serves as a key resource in standardizing project controls documentation, supporting governance requirements, and improving knowledge management across the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides technical writingand content management support for creating and maintaining projectmanagement related policies, procedures, manuals, white papers,presentations and other documentation as required.
    • Identify opportunities toimprove documentation processes and increase efficiency.
    • Assist with implementationand continuous improvement of PMO methodologies and best practices.
    • Maintain version control anddocument management protocols.
  • Participates in meetings orinterviews with subject matter experts to obtain technical understandingand clarification of documentation requirements.
  • Coordinates requests fordocumentation and evidence.
  • Creates spreadsheets thatcompile large sets of data for evaluation and presentation
  • Ensures all complianceaspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies withall policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.
  • Performs related duties asassigned.

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree inTechnical Writing, Communications, English, Business Administration,Engineering Technology, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Equivalent combination ofeducation and experience may be considered.
  • 3-7 years of technicalwriting, project documentation, or project controls experience.
  • Experience supporting capitalprojects, engineering projects, construction projects, or utilityoperations preferred.
  • Experience working in aregulated industry strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity withtransmission, distribution, substation, or utility infrastructure projectsis desirable.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills
  • Advanced technical writing,editing, and document formatting skills.
  • Strong understanding ofproject management principles and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of projectlifecycle management and PMO processes.
  • Proficiency with MicrosoftOffice Suite, including:
    • Word, Excel, PowerPoint,SharePoint, Teams
  • Experience with documentmanagement systems and collaboration platforms.
  • Familiarity with schedulingand project management tools such as:
    • Primavera P6, Oracle(Unifier), Power BI, Maximo
