Position Summary

CVS Health is seeking a highly strategic and results-oriented Lead Director, RX Supply Chain to support and advance the company's pharmaceutical and medical supply wholesaler relationships. This role serves as a critical bridge between day-to-day supplier performance management and enterprise-wide sourcing strategy, partnering closely with Pharmacy, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Legal, Trade, and Executive Leadership.

The Lead Director will be responsible for managing key wholesaler relationships, driving contractual compliance, optimizing supplier performance, supporting strategic sourcing initiatives, and identifying opportunities that improve service levels, supply continuity, financial performance, and operational efficiency. This leader will leverage strong analytical, financial, and relationship management capabilities to influence business decisions and deliver measurable value across the organization.

Success in this role requires a combination of strategic thinking, commercial acumen, operational excellence, and the ability to navigate complex healthcare and pharmaceutical market dynamics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supplier Strategy & Relationship Management
  • Manage and strengthen strategic relationships with pharmaceutical and medical supply wholesalers, serving as a primary point of contact for key supplier engagements.
  • Support the development and execution of sourcing, contracting, and supplier partnership strategies that align with enterprise objectives.
  • Partner with wholesalers and internal stakeholders to drive service excellence, supplier accountability, and continuous performance improvement.
  • Monitor supplier performance against contractual obligations, service level agreements, purchasing commitments, and operational expectations.
  • Support contract negotiations, renewals, amendments, and RFP processes, including development of business requirements, financial evaluations, and contract recommendations.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with contractual terms, rebate agreements, discount structures, GPO requirements, and other supplier commitments.
  • Identify and mitigate contractual, operational, and financial risks within supplier relationships.
  • Analyze wholesaler economics, purchasing trends, pricing structures, rebates, and operational costs to support strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor and report on service levels, inventory performance, sourcing activity, and supply continuity across pharmaceutical and medical supply wholesalers.
  • Partner closely with Finance, Legal, Operations, Trade, Supply Chain, Pharmacy, and Procurement teams to align priorities and execute strategic initiatives.
  • Influence stakeholders across a matrixed organization to drive alignment, accelerate decision-making, and achieve business objectives.


Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical supply chain, sourcing, procurement, supplier management, trade relations, healthcare distribution, pharmacy operations, or related healthcare sectors.
  • Experience managing strategic supplier or vendor relationships and driving measurable operational and financial outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical wholesaler business models, distribution networks, and healthcare supply chain dynamics.
  • Experience supporting contract negotiations, commercial agreements, RFP processes, and supplier performance management.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and executive communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling and data analysis
  • Ability to operate in a highly matrixed healthcare environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading large-scale supplier performance, sourcing, or operational improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical contracting, rebates, purchasing programs, and GPO structures.
  • Experience evaluating market trends, competitive dynamics, and regulatory developments affecting pharmaceutical supply chains.
  • Experience developing executive presentations and business cases that influence strategic decision-making.


Education

Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, Healthcare Administration, Operations, or a related field.

MBA or other advanced degree preferred.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$100,000.00 - $231,540.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
