Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer - Precision Motion Systems - Location: Santa Clara County, CA
Wintegrity is searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer - Precision Motion Systems to design and develop high-performance, multi-axis motion systems used in advanced semiconductor wafer scanning applications. This role is responsible for creating innovative electro-mechanical solutions capable of nanometer-level positioning accuracy and vibration control. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop, analyze, prototype, and optimize precision motion components and assemblies while supporting product performance, manufacturability, and reliability.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and develop high-performance, multi-axis precision motion systems for semiconductor wafer scanning applications requiring nanometer-level accuracy and vibration control.
  • Collaborate with controls, systems, electrical, manufacturing, and test engineers throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Develop mechanical concepts and iterate designs to optimize system performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using Creo, SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD software.
  • Apply GD&T principles to mechanical designs and manufacturing documentation.
  • Perform structural, thermal, vibration, and modal finite element analyses (FEA) to validate and optimize component performance.
  • Design precision components including wafer positioning stages, wafer chucks, tooling, and related assemblies.
  • Evaluate and specify precision mechanical components including motors, bearings, linear guides, air bearings, and motion hardware.
  • Procure prototypes and work closely with suppliers and vendors to support fabrication and component sourcing.
  • Conduct engineering design reviews and present technical recommendations to cross-functional teams.
  • Support prototype assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and design verification activities.
  • Utilize Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
  • Analyze engineering data using Python, MATLAB, or similar analytical tools to support design validation and performance optimization.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve product performance, quality, and cost.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, three (3) years with a Master's degree, or a PhD with relevant academic research or industry experience.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience designing precision motion systems, mechatronics, or precision mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency with Creo, SolidWorks, or similar 3D CAD modeling software.
  • Experience performing structural, thermal, vibration, and modal finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) involving machining, sheet metal, and cast components.
  • Experience using engineering analysis tools such as Python or MATLAB.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's three (3) years with a Master's degree, orPhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline with relevant academic research or industry experience.
  • Experience designing high-precision dynamic X-Y positioning stages with sub-micron accuracy.
  • Experience with feedback systems utilizing optical encoders, laser interferometers, linear motors, linear guides, and air bearings.
  • Experience conducting vibration and modal testing using accelerometers, impact hammers, and related instrumentation.
  • Semiconductor capital equipment design experience.
  • Knowledge of vibration isolation systems, motion control, Simulink, and PID servo tuning.
  • Experience supporting prototype builds, testing, and validation in a manufacturing environment.
