Job description

The PENTA Building Group is seeking a dedicated Estimator to join our team in Las Vegas, NV!
This position participates in all preconstruction services including estimating, scheduling, planning, bidding, and budgeting of projects. The ideal candidate for this role must be a flexible self-starter with a strong work ethic that stems from extensive experience in multiple project delivery methods across a wide variety of project types.
At PENTA, an Estimator is responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Identifying, reviewing, and presenting potential project pursuits.
  • Performing take offs and internal pricing for complex scopes on a variety of project types.
  • Writing narratives for proposals or reviewing and tailoring existing narratives. Focusing on proposal areas including approach to selecting subcontractors and estimate development with general conditions.
  • Implementing project specific bid strategies within team - delegating assignments and ensuring follow through when appropriate.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and uploading bid documents, ensuring the standard company bidding templates are utilized.
  • Competently and completely assembling full GMP or Lump Sum project specific trade proposals, including break outs, qualifications, and alternates summaries.
  • Communicating clear project milestones and accountability for assignments and proposal deadlines. Maintaining an understanding of any procurement regulations or unique standard practices related to the pursuit of that project type and communicating clearly to team.
  • Possessing the ability to adapt preconstruction techniques to Design-Bid-Build (DBB), Design/Build (DB), and Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR).
  • Portraying communication skills and knowledge required to deal with Owners and/or Owner's Representatives in a professional manner.
  • Attending job walks and maintaining familiarity with bid documents and existing conditions for project pursuits.
  • Developing and maintaining professional relationships with subcontractor community and acting as the main point of contact for subcontractor organization leaders.
  • Taking initiative to track down and follow up on subcontractor bid participation. Providing pricing feedback to subcontractors and vendors.
  • Participating as required in project interviews and presenting the preconstruction areas of the project pursuit in an accurate and confident manner. Working with Marketing lead to set up interview preparation and practice sessions with interview team before interview date.
  • Working with assigned Operations staff or Preconstruction Executive to establish logistics and phasing plan. May work with VDC to create visual modeling or animated tools to demonstrate phasing and logistics plan. Reviewing and commenting on the construction schedule and providing feedback to the team. Understanding the sequencing and the duration to incorporate into the General Conditions and General Requirements.
  • Assisting in Business Development in the local market with specific intent to reach new customers and market sectors.
