Specialist, Engineering Services - JLL

What this job involves:

As a Specialist in Engineering Services, you will play a critical role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment at a client's site, ensuring optimal performance and operational excellence. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining the Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems for the facility, keeping all building systems up to applicable standards. You will hold responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing and inventory control, contracted maintenance, general maintenance, and technical proficiency. This position offers an exciting opportunity to demonstrate your technical leadership while working in a dynamic environment where your ability to minimize disruption, maintain quality standards, and manage vendor relationships will directly contribute to client satisfaction and facility operational efficiency.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment at the client's site, performing maintenance, monitoring, and repairs to Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems
  • Record readings and adjust where necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment, including cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and changing parts to maintain HVAC systems and associated equipment at optimum performance levels
  • Ensure that work performed in client space is accomplished with a minimum of disruption and is followed by adequate clean-up, maintaining a clean and safe workplace
  • Ensure the availability of an adequate operating inventory of tools and supplies, develop sources for stock materials, and perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory
  • Evaluate vendors and suppliers on a regular basis regarding quality and competitive pricing, monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors
  • Prepare and submit purchase order requests, verify the accuracy of deliveries for count, pricing, and description
  • Review monthly client service request summaries to pinpoint and correct recurrent operational problems, leading and/or assisting with event setup/teardown activities including electrical, audio visual, coordinating with security, or other tasks as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in facility maintenance and engineering services with demonstrated technical proficiency in multiple building systems
  • Strong knowledge of Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems maintenance and repair
  • Expertise in HVAC systems maintenance, including cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and optimizing equipment performance
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs, inventory control, and vendor management
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex facility equipment issues and implement effective solutions
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage purchasing, inventory, and contractor relationships
  • Knowledge of safety protocols for the storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in client-facing facility management roles with focus on minimizing operational disruption
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for work order tracking and reporting
  • Background in event setup/teardown activities including electrical and audio-visual coordination
  • Strong analytical skills to review service request summaries and identify recurrent operational problems
  • Excellent vendor negotiation and supplier evaluation capabilities
