Duty Location: Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL

Travel Requirements: Up to 10%
Position Overview
The Senior Operations Analyst (Executive Support) provides high-level administrative, operational, and programmatic synchronization within the Army PAE MA. This role serves as a primary operational conduit and executive coordinator directly supporting Flag Officers and Senior Civilians, specifically:
  • 2-Star Generals (Major General / Deputy PAE MA)
  • 1-Star Generals (Brigadier General / Deputy PAE MA)
  • Senior Executive Service (SES) (Executive Directors and Senior Civilians)

Operating in a high-tempo, mission-critical environment, the Senior Operations Analyst ensures seamless battle rhythm execution, executive travel coordination, workflow synchronization, and protocol management across enterprise stakeholders, including military staff, Department of the Army Civilians (DAC), and defense contractor teams.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Executive Synchronization & Battle Rhythm Management
  • Maintain and synchronize the command battle rhythm for 2-Star, 1-Star, and SES leadership, encompassing executive staff calls, strategic portfolio reviews, and high-level decision briefings.
  • Deconflict, prioritize, and manage complex executive master calendars, adjusting in real time to emergent operational requirements and senior Army directives.
  • Prepare, organize, and administer executive meeting agendas, read-aheads, minutes, and post-meeting action item logs.

Task Management & Executive Correspondence
  • Serve as the principal screener and gatekeeper for all incoming and outgoing headquarters taskings and executive correspondence.
  • Track, route, and enforce suspense dates for command taskers using enterprise systems (e.g., Task Management Tool / TMT).
  • Review, screen, and quality-control briefing slide decks, decision memorandums, Information Papers, and executive summaries to ensure adherence to Army Regulation 25-50 (Preparing and Managing Correspondence) and leadership preferences.
  • Consolidate and draft recurring executive reports, including weekly Significant Activities (SIGACTs), staff call summaries, and command-level milestones.

Travel Logistics & Defense Travel System (DTS)
  • Serve as primary Defense Travel Administrator / Arranger for General Officers and SES leadership, handling complex domestic and international travel itineraries.
  • Author and process Travel Authorizations and Vouchers in DTS in strict compliance with the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR).
  • Coordinate ground transportation, security escorts, lodging, and executive communications requirements during senior leader travel.

Distinguished Visitors, VIP Protocol & Ceremonies
  • Direct, plan, and execute protocol logistics for visits involving 1-Star/2-Star Flag Officers, SES personnel, Congressional delegations (CODELs/STAFFDELs), foreign dignitaries, and defense industry executives.
  • Determine and enforce protocol precedence, seating arrangements, motorcade coordination, and ceremonial standards in alignment with Department of the Army protocol guidance.
  • Coordinate cross-functional support for change of command ceremonies, retirement ceremonies, senior leader conferences, and media events.

Strategic Operational Support & Continuous Improvement
  • Interface with Project Managers (PMs), Project Directors (PDs), and Headquarters Directorate leads to align daily activities with enterprise strategic objectives.
  • Evaluate management processes, internal workflows, and reporting architectures; propose and implement operational enhancements to optimize headquarters performance.
  • Oversee and facilitate onboarding, security in-processing, and administrative transitions for incoming military and civilian staff officers.

Position Requirements & Qualifications
Education & Credentials
  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (Business Administration, Management, Public Policy, Communications, or related discipline preferred).
  • Security Clearance: Must possess and maintain an active S. Government SECRET security clearance.

Professional Experience
  • Experience Level: Minimum of 10+ years of progressive operational, administrative, or programmatic support experience within the Department of Defense (DoD), preferably within the Department of the Army or defense acquisition organizations.
  • Executive Support Experience: Proven, successful background directly supporting or routinely interfacing with General Officers (O-7 / O-8) and Senior Executive Service (SES)
  • DoD Systems Mastery: Demonstrated hands-on proficiency with:
    Defense Travel System (DTS)
  • Task Management Tool (TMT) / Enterprise Task Management systems
  • Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)

Core Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Military Protocol & Standards: Comprehensive knowledge of Army organizational hierarchy, staff structure, and Flag/SES etiquette.
  • Executive Communication: Superior verbal and written communication skills; exceptional ability to distill complex technical data into concise executive briefings and memorandums.
  • Discretion & Judgment: Demonstrated experience managing sensitive acquisition, personnel, and operational information with absolute confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Agility & Problem Solving: High degree of initiative, sound judgment under pressure, and the capacity to adapt rapidly to shifting executive priorities.

Working Conditions & Travel
  • Work Environment: Professional military headquarters environment at Redstone Arsenal.
  • Travel: Occasional official travel (up to 10%) may be required to support off-site conferences, senior leader symposia, or travel advance
