Job Summary

The ideal candidate for this position combines deep companion animal clinical experience with exceptional communication skills and a passion for helping veterinary professionals and pet owners improve patient outcomes. This individual understands not only the science behind veterinary medicine, but also how veterinary medicine is practiced in the real world and how pet owners make healthcare decisions for their animals.

As a senior individual contributor, you will collaborate with scientific writers, editors, creative teams, account executives, and client stakeholders to develop content and communications that are scientifically accurate, clinically relevant, and authentic to practicing veterinarians and accessible and meaningful to pet owners and caregivers.


Job Responsibilities

Veterinary Expertise & Strategic Consultation

  • Serve as the veterinary voice across client engagements, ensuring content reflects the realities of clinical practice and resonates with veterinary professionals while remaining accessible and meaningful to pet owners.
  • Provide guidance on effective communication strategies for both veterinary professionals and pet owners, translating complex medical information into accessible and actionable educational content.
  • Support account executives in client meetings to bring veterinary expertise into strategic discussions and ideation sessions.

Content Development

  • Lead content strategy supporting development of high-quality educational, technical, and promotional content for veterinary and pet owner audiences.
  • Translate scientific and clinical information into practical, relevant communications that support clinical decision-making, strengthen veterinary-client communication, and inspire meaningful behavior change.
  • Ensure educational materials are audience appropriate and accurately reflect the clinical realities of veterinary medicine and practice or the needs and decision-making processes of pet owners and caregivers.
  • Collaborate closely with scientific writers, editors, and creative teams to ensure content is strategically aligned, medically accurate, and audience appropriate.
  • Serve as a trusted reviewer and advisor throughout project development and execution.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner closely with scientific writers, editors, creative teams, and account executives throughout project development.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to content teams on clinical topics, veterinary audience needs, and practical application of scientific information.
  • Help shape strategic messaging and content approaches across client engagements.
  • Contribute to the continued growth and development of the agency's veterinary expertise and thought leadership.
  • Foster collaboration across creative, scientific, editorial, and account teams to ensure integrated and effective client solutions.

Qualifications

Required

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD, or equivalent veterinary degree).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of companion animal or mixed animal clinical practice experience and/or industry experience.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and consulting skills.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to build credibility and relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Passion for advancing animal health through education, communication, and strategic content development.

Preferred

  • Experience in animal health industry roles such as Technical Marketing/Medical Affairs, Professional Services, Veterinary Education, Scientific Communications, Consulting, or related functions.
  • Experience working with animal health pharmaceutical, diagnostics, nutrition, or technology companies.
  • Advisory board, consulting, or veterinary leadership experience.
  • Experience developing educational content for veterinary professionals and/or pet owners.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint and Word.
  • Comfortable working within collaborative digital platforms and content review workflows.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus.
  • Experience with AI-powered productivity and content development tools is a plus.
