Job description

The Executive Benefits & Compensation Analyst I is responsible for calculating the accounting for Trustmark’s bank owned life insurance (BOLI), Executive Benefit Plans [the Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation Plan (NQDC), the Supplemental Executive & Director Retirement Plan (SERP), the Stock Compensation Plan (SICP) and the Defined Benefit Retirement Plans (DBP)], and some general benefit programs.


  • Tracks multiple Executive Benefit programs through documentation and following the proper legal guidelines to ensure legal compliance and accurate reporting.
  • Complete monthly and quarterly general ledger reconciliations for benefit plans, noting that entries are reasonable and adjustments timely and accurate.
  • Prepare Executive Benefit Plan disclosures for the Proxy, 10-K, and 10-Q.
  • Build relationships with internal key stakeholders and external vendors to answer questions, coordinate large projects, and act as liaison between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and review program documentation for participants, various committees, and the Board of Directors.
  • Coordinate the process of granting and vesting of restricted stock awards under the SICP including determination of eligibility for annual grant and obtaining approval documentation needed.
  • Coordinate the annual enrollment process, review participant elections and deferral amount for the NQDC.
  • Draft and coordinate communications to directors and associates regarding matters related to the Executive Benefit Plans.
  • Utilizes emotional intelligence to develop relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Associates are expected to perform all additional duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related degree
  • 2 years of experience of post-graduation work experience in Accounting, Audit, or Finance
  • Detail oriented
  • Deadline management and prioritization
  • Data input, consolidation, and transformation
  • Quantitative data analysis, interpretation, and crafting presentation across common platforms (including Excel: pivot table, vlookups, complex nested formulas, SmartView, Adobe, etc…)
  • Relationship management
  • Knowledge of general accounting practices
  • Interpersonal skills including effective written and verbal communication across various media platforms and channels
  • Critical thinking and decision making
  • Integrity and confidentiality
  • Knowledge of Executive Benefit Programs preferred
  • Master’s degree with concentration in Accounting preferred
  • CPA license preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word mail merge preferred
  • Experience with General Ledger bookings and monthly close processes including balance sheet reconciliation/substantiation, journal entries, and variance analysis preferred
  • Experience in updating dashboards and presentations through Excel and PowerPoint preferred

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:  Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse requiring hand and wrist manipulation, while viewing computer screens.
