Job description

Serving Airlines Building Airports. Helping the aviation industry meet the demand for efficiency and modernization.

AIRLINE LIAISON TEAM

The ATL Airline Liaison Team (ALT) represents the collective interests of the signatory airlines serving Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the world's busiest passenger airport. Operating under the Airline Use and Lease Agreement, the team serves as the single, consolidated airline voice to the City of Atlanta's Department of Aviation on capital development, rates and charges, and facility matters.

The ALT reviews and advises on the Airport's multi-billion-dollar Capital Improvement Program, from project justification and scope through funding strategy, budget performance, and close-out. The team prepares the technical and financial analysis that Corporate Real Estate representatives require to reach a majority position, and it presents that position to Airport senior leadership. Work spans terminal and concourse development, airfield and apron projects, baggage systems, parking and landside facilities, and the debt and cost-center structures that fund them.

This is a small, senior, high-visibility team. Members work directly with airline executives, airport leadership, financial advisors, bond counsel, and program management consultants - with a level of autonomy and client exposure that is uncommon at this stage of a career.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Directorโ€“ Financial Services supports the financial analysis and advisory function of the ATL Airline Liaison Team. The position assists with financial models, rate and charge projections, and capital program funding analysis, and translates complex airport financial data into clear, defensible recommendations for airline decision-makers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Analysis & Modeling

  • Assist in building and maintaining financial models covering airline rates and charges, cost center allocations, debt service, and long-range capital funding scenarios.
  • Research and analyze comprehensive airport and airline financial information, projections, and operating data.
  • Develop ad hoc analytical products in response to airline and airport requests, often on compressed timelines.
  • Calculate financial impact of proposed projects to airline rates and charges.
  • Perform ratio, cash flow, and variance analysis to evaluate the Airport's financial position and the airlines' resulting cost per enplanement.

Capital Program Budget & Funding

  • Provide financial analysis and documentation supporting the Airport's capital improvement program, including budget formulation, execution, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Evaluate funding strategies across airport revenue bonds, PFCs, AIP and other federal grants, CFCs, and airline-approved pay-as-you-go funding.
  • Identify capital program budget funding challenges early and assist in developing practical solutions.

Agreements, Rates & Risk

  • Provide financial analysis and consulting support for airline and airport lease, use, and rate agreement negotiations.
  • Identify and assess areas of financial risk to the airlines and recommend corrective measures.
  • Structure and forecast financial strategies that ensure accurate, timely reporting and compliance with agreement and grant assurance obligations.

Reporting & Client Communication

  • Prepare executive-level summaries, charts, dashboards, and reports.
  • Coordinate dissemination of financial materials.
  • Maintain the accuracy, consistency, and version control of all financial deliverables.

Team & Firm Contribution

  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of financial reporting and accounting systems and tools used by the team.
  • Support proposal preparation, pricing, and presentation for new and renewed AvAirPros pursuits.
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 10+ years of progressive finance and/or accounting experience, including experience leading analysis for senior decision-makers.
  • Demonstrated command of financial analysis and management, financial controls, and accounting practices and procedures.
  • Experience with financial structuring, business projections, budget analysis, cash flow analysis, and management reporting.
  • Strength in cost-benefit analysis, ratio analysis, internal controls, and applicable accounting standards.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex multi-tab models, scenario tooling, and data validation; proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical financial conclusions to non-financial executives.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent deliverables with strong attention to detail.
  • Self-directed, comfortable operating with autonomy in a dynamic, client-facing environment.
  • Ability to work on-site in Atlanta, GA and to obtain and maintain airport security badging, including a criminal history records check.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Direct experience with airline or airport operations, financing structures, rates and charges methodology, and use and lease agreements.
  • Familiarity with airport capital improvement programs and public-sector procurement and governmental budgeting procedures.
  • Experience with municipal debt, revenue bond structures, PFC and AIP grant programs, or airport rating agency criteria.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

  • B.S. in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • CPA certification and/or MBA preferred.

WHY THIS ROLE

The ATL Airline Liaison Team sits at the intersection of the airlines' capital dollars and the world's busiest airport's development plans. The Director โ€“ Financial Services has direct influence over decisions measured in the hundreds of millions โ€” with a seat at the table, a short path to the decision-makers, and none of the layers that usually separate an analyst from the outcome.
