Position Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our cooling systems team, fully on-site in Peoria, IL. In this role, you will design, develop, build, and implement new cooling system components, products, and technologies. Applying mechanical engineering principles across the full development lifecycle - from customer requirements and functional specifications through 3D design, prototype testing, and production delivery - you will work collaboratively with cross-functional engineering teams, suppliers, and customers to bring high-quality cooling solutions to market.

Key Contributions & Responsibilities
  • Analyze customer cooling requirements; create new or modify existing cooling components and systems based on customer and project needs through extensive collaboration with internal and external engineering teams.
  • Develop and document functional requirements; translate into detailed design documents using Creo 3D modeling, including fabrications, castings, modular assemblies, wire frames, solid objects, and 2D/3D views.
  • Organize, coordinate, and execute the building, testing, and analysis of prototypes; troubleshoot issues and implement design changes as needed to resolve them.
  • Work as part of a project team to coordinate component and system development, determine project scope and limitations, and estimate time and cost required to accomplish project goals.
  • Assist supply specialists and buyers with supplier development and performance; participate in buy-build analysis for product components.
  • Participate in and support proposal preparation, cost estimates, and technical reports.
  • Generate part and component specifications; reuse design components via reusable libraries following standard procedures; manage print creation and releasing through Teamcenter processes.
Team Structure & Work Environment
  • You will have daily interactions with internal and external teams, including in-person and virtual meetings with cross-functional engineering partners, customers, drafting specialists, and testing specialists.
  • This is a fully on-site, office-based role in Peoria, IL.

Requirements

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant field required; 3-4 years of relevant experience required.
Required Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Creo CAD software for 3D modeling, drafting, and print creation; experience with Teamcenter processes.
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Knowledge of cooling systems technology and application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
  • Basic knowledge of thermodynamics, thermal simulation, and structural analysis.
Required Soft Skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with customers, cross-functional teams, and suppliers.
  • High ability to work independently and manage one's time; strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
Desired Soft Skills
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and objectives, making effective judgments on prioritization and time allocation.
