What is an exclusion technician?

Exclusion Technicians are professionals who specialize in identifying and sealing entry points to prevent unwanted animals, pests, or wildlife from entering homes or businesses. Their work involves inspecting properties, determining how animals are getting in, and applying materials or barriers to block access. They may also remove animals if necessary and provide recommendations to prevent future infestations. Exclusion Technicians play a crucial role in humane pest management by focusing on prevention rather than extermination.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an exclusion technician?

To excel as an Exclusion Technician, you need knowledge of pest behavior, building construction, and safe removal techniques, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with hand tools, ladders, sealing materials, and sometimes pest control certification are typically required. Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and customer service skills set top performers apart. These abilities ensure effective, safe, and customer-friendly solutions to pest entry problems, protecting property and health.

What are some typical challenges exclusion technicians face when working at client sites?

Exclusion Technicians often encounter challenges such as identifying hidden entry points for pests, working in confined or elevated spaces, and dealing with varied building structures. They must also balance effective pest-proofing while minimizing disruption to the client's environment. Team coordination and communication with property owners or managers are key, as Exclusion Technicians frequently explain their findings and repair processes to ensure client understanding and satisfaction.

What is the difference between Exclusion Technician vs Pest Control Technician?
