Essential Functions:
1.Maintain a calm, safe, secure environment within the school bus by engaging positively with all students.
2.Monitor and redirect student behavior as needed by adhering to corporation discipline policy while maintaining safe operation of the vehicle.
3.Document and provide feedback to school staff regarding student behavior in a professional andproactive manner.
4.In the event of an accident or emergency, assure the safe evacuation of all students and passengers.
5.Professionally communicate with parents and/or guardians regarding student’s ride on the school bus, as needed.
6.Assures that no child is ever left unsupervised on a bus.
7.Efficiently operate school bus while following all mandatory safety regulations and obeying all traffic laws.
8.Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspection both inside and outside of the school bus before and afterevery route.
9.Follow all mandatory guidelines within ZCS Transportation Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Manual and Transportation Addendum.
General Functions:
1.Maintain a professional and positive demeanor at all times, while demonstrating flexibility.
2.Understand and carry out oral and written instructions with minimal supervision.
Maintain a clean and organized school bus by making sure all student possessions are properly stored and safeguarded during all bus routes.
4.Nurture a positive and engaging relationship with all students who ride the school bus and their parents and/or guardians.
5.Follow all transportation safety protocols and procedures.
6.Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Manager.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents and staff and deliver excellent customer service. Must safely operate school bus following all safety and student disciplinary guidelines and protocols. Ability to read maps and follow routes using two-way radio. Must perform duties of job with minimal supervision.
Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is required.
Experience: 0-2 years working in a school or child care setting is preferred.
Certificate/License: Valid Indiana Commercial Driver’s License with P and S endorsement certification from the State Bureau of Motor Vehicles
