Description
As a Utilities Locator at Excel Underground, LLC, you will play a crucial role in our mission to safeguard underground infrastructure and promote workplace safety. You will be responsible for accurately locating and marking utility lines using various technology and techniques.
Your primary duties will include:
  • Conducting on-site investigations to identify the presence and location of underground utilities.
  • Using electromagnetic locating equipment and other tools to map utility lines.
  • Interpreting maps, blueprints, and utility records to determine the layout of underground infrastructure.
  • Marking the location of utilities with paint, flags, or other designated markers in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborating with managers, construction crews, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate utility identification and minimize excavation risks.
  • Adhering to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.
  • Maintaining accurate records of utility locates and completing required documentation.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner at all times

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer and internet skills
  • Previous experience in utility locating, construction, surveying, or related field, preferred.
  • Knowledge of utility infrastructure, including water, sewer, gas, electric, and telecommunications systems.
  • Familiarity with utility locating equipment and techniques, such as electromagnetic locators and ground-penetrating radar.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately interpret maps, blueprints, and utility records.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Perform essential job functions under limited supervision with the ability to exercise discretion and judgment in the field
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Willingness to undergo training and obtain necessary certifications as required.
  • Be able to occasionally lift up to 75lbs.
  • Be available to work after hours, occasional Saturdays, and on-call rotation
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening and random checks throughout employment
  • Be willing and able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
  • All other duties, as assigned

Physical Setting:
  • Outdoor work
