TEMP Contract: Up to 6 months

IMMEDIATE TEMP Distribution Center Supervisor position available! We are currently representing a well-known manufacturing company and leading global manufacturer of heating, cooling, and water heating equipment seeking a TEMPORARY Distribution Center Supervisor to join their team on a contractual basis for up to 6 months.

This Distribution Center Supervisor position is responsible for the direct supervision of hourly employees and working leaders within the distribution center. This role will oversee daily operations, employee performance, safety, quality, and productivity while supporting an efficient and well-organized distribution center environment.

Duties:
  • Supervise the activities of hourly employees and working leaders within the distribution center operation.
  • Plan work within the assigned department and implement improved methods and procedures to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Maintain responsibility for the quantity and quality of work within the assigned department.
  • Coordinate work with other departments to ensure efficient overall operations.
  • Oversee the proper induction, instruction, and training of employees while maintaining an adequate and well-trained workforce.
  • Promote and maintain high employee morale through strong employee-management relations and knowledge of company policies.
  • Ensure all schedules and operational deadlines are met.
  • Interpret instructions, specifications, handbooks, and company policies for hourly employees.
  • Monitor costs and ensure proper maintenance of tools, machinery, equipment, and materials within the assigned department.
  • Maintain discipline through prompt and impartial enforcement of company policies.
  • Serve as a liaison with HR to assist employees and participate in interviewing and selection of new employees.
  • Conduct safety meetings and reinforce proper safety practices, housekeeping standards, and safe working conditions.
  • Recognize employee capabilities and communicate performance and development opportunities to management.
  • Counsel employees and work to resolve individual complaints or concerns before they become formal complaints.
  • Develop SOPs as required for the Distribution Center.
  • Assist with vendor negotiations for MRO supplies.
  • Support quality assurance and performance development initiatives throughout the Distribution Center.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in a distribution center environment.
  • Previous experience supervising hourly employees.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven leadership abilities.
  • Strong teamwork, problem-solving, planning, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to motivate employees and effectively manage significant operational or shop-floor changes.
  • Strong judgment, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to organize and deliver effective employee training.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working directly in a distribution center floor environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
HOW TO STAND OUT:
  • Bachelor’s degree in operations, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
  • Certified lift truck/forklift experience.
  • ERP system experience, particularly Oracle or SAP.
  • Previous experience working in a unionized environment.
