Valley Medical Group is looking for an Eye Care Technician to join our Optometry team and work in our Easthampton Health Center. If you are looking for a dynamic environment, this is your opportunity!

Position: Eye Care Technician

Location: Easthampton, MA

Hours: 32 hours, Monday - Friday generally between 8:00 am โ€“ 5:00 pm. Hours may vary depending on department needs. Exact schedule to be discussed at time of interview.

Reporting directly to the Health Center Manager and Nurse Team Leader, the Ophthalmic Assistant is responsible for supporting the Eye Care provider to support all of the patientโ€™s eye care needs being addressed at every visit.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepares patients for office visit by taking medical history, visual acuity, checking eye movements, color vision, peripheral vision, stereo vision, checking pupillary reaction, completing medication reconciliation, and reviewing allergies
  • Performs Visual Field, Optical Coherence Tomography, Pachymetry, contact lens insertion and removal training
  • Oversees and monitors ophthalmic equipment, requests repairs, and restocks supplies
  • Opens and closes rooms at the beginning and end of the day
  • Sanitizes equipment

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in eye care in a clinical, retail, or office setting
  • Minimum of two years experience in a customer service related position
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills


Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with electronic medical record systems, Athena experience preferred
  • Proficient use of personal computers in a Windows based environment including Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
