Job description

Position Summary

Arreis Construction Group is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator who takes pride in their work, values safety above all else, and understands that quality is built through attention to detail.

We are looking for individuals who are dependable, self-motivated, and committed to excellence. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, takes ownership of their responsibilities, and understands that every member of the team contributes to the success of a project. At Arreis, we value employees who are willing to step outside their equipment when needed, support their crew, and do whatever it takes to safely deliver a quality project.

If you're looking for more than just operating equipment and want to be part of a team that builds lasting infrastructure while growing your career, we'd like to meet you.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Safely operate heavy civil construction equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, backhoes, skid steers, graders, rollers, and other equipment as assigned.
  • Perform excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, material handling, and site preparation in accordance with project plans and specifications.
  • Read and understand grades, elevations, stakes, and construction drawings.
  • Work alongside field crews by assisting with labor tasks when equipment operation is not required.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and complete pre- and post-operation safety checks.
  • Report equipment maintenance needs promptly and maintain equipment in clean operating condition.
  • Follow all Company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and project-specific safety requirements.
  • Maintain production goals while ensuring quality workmanship.
  • Assist with traffic control, site cleanup, and other project responsibilities as needed.
  • Operate Company vehicles and trailers when properly licensed and authorized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of project operations.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate:

  • Takes pride in producing quality work.
  • Understands that safety is everyone's responsibility.
  • Is dependable, punctual, and accountable.
  • Works well independently and as part of a team.
  • Is willing to assist wherever needed—not just operate equipment.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Communicates professionally with supervisors, coworkers, inspectors, and clients.
  • Is eager to learn new skills and continue growing professionally.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and problem-solving abilities in the field.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating heavy civil construction equipment.
  • Experience in underground utility, municipal, roadway, or site development construction preferred.
  • Ability to understand grades, elevations, and construction staking.
  • Ability to safely work around underground utilities and active construction operations.
  • Valid Texas Driver License with an acceptable driving record.
  • CDL is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening, background check, and motor vehicle record review.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

  • Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and work in trenches for extended periods.
  • Enter and exit heavy equipment multiple times throughout the day.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity.
  • Work overtime, weekends, and occasional overnight travel when project schedules require.

Safety Expectations

Safety is a core value at Arreis Construction Group. Employees are expected to:

  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings and ongoing training.
  • Follow all Company safety policies and OSHA regulations without exception.
