Description Assistant Director of Law Police Accountability Team The Mayor's Office is building a team that will providecontinued support to the Cleveland Division of Police ("CDP") to fullycomply witha 2015 Consent Decreeaimed at strengthening the City's police force. The Mayor's Police AccountabilityTeam ("PAT")workstofacilitatean objective and thorough review processof the Consent Decreeandassistwithitsimplementation. The goal is to achieve successful compliance, continuous review, and collaboration with CDP.

Objectives will include policy review, updates, audits, and critical data analysis to capture results and make recommendations forappropriate modificationsto ensure best practices going forward, post Consent Decree. The City of Cleveland's Department of Law seeks an attorney to provide legal support andexpertiseto thePATand to support the continued implementation efforts on the Consent Decree.Under the direction of the PAT Executive Director, the attorney willbe a criticalcomponentto the City's police reform work. A strong work ethic, passion for public service, and strong academic credentials, research and legal-writing skills arerequired.Ohio Barmembership in good standingisrequired.The ideal candidate must be hard- working, technically proficient, and able to analyze complex issues of law all while working well as a team member in a fast-paced environment

Examples of Duties PrimaryDuties: Assist thePATwith Consent Decree compliance effortsby reviewingand analyzing CDP'spolicies, practices, and training to compare inputs and outputs Assistwith drafting and filing Court documents related to the Consent Decree Review Monitor reports, Consent Decree andassistwith court required presentations Interfaceandparticipatein regular correspondencewith CDP,Department of Public Safety, Department ofLaw,Community Police Commission,Consent DecreeMonitoring Team,U.S. Department ofJusticeand other stakeholdersin the City's Police Reform agenda. Supportthe division'sefforts inchangemanagementbyusingtechnology and data

Present at public meetings on reformefforts, andassistingand directingTeamwith in-reach and outreach. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of the PAT, Law Department Leadership, or the Mayor's Office. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school Law enforcement, prosecutorial or criminal defense background; public administration, data analytics/research, or project management focus is a plus.

3+ years asa practicing attorney. Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to work independently and in a team setting, and effectively collaborate with a variety of stakeholders. Efficient, organized work style andproficiencyin prioritizing and multi-tasking quickly.

Strong written and verbal communication skills. Good organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent legal analytical and research skills A valid State of Ohio driver's license isrequired.

Supplemental Information Preferred Qualifications: Professional performance auditing, analytical, or policy work experience; Licensed to practice law in federal court (Northern District of Ohio), or ability to obtain license within 6 months of hire. Knowledge of constitutional criminal procedure and law enforcement best practices. Experience utilizing enterprise reporting tools (e.g.: Crystal reporting, Sequel Server Reporting Services, Analytics Software) to extract and analyze data from information systems)
