Job description

Description
The Department of Biology is continuing expansion of its research and education mission related to biomedical science. We seek outstanding early- and mid-career applicants conducting interdisciplinary basic science research that seeks to define the molecular and macromolecular mechanisms of human diseases. Applicants will be considered with expertise in any of the following areas: Functional/Mechanistic Biology, Chemical Biology, Integrative Omics, Functional Omics, and/or Omics of Microbes and Microbiomes. We are especially interested in candidates who explore cutting-edge approaches in functional omics, chemical biology, spatial imaging, and/or systems biology of human or microbial systems. Applicants should be interested in developing and advancing new functional capabilities to go beyond current abundance measurements to directly measure biomolecular activities, interactions, and regulation. The successful applicant will demonstrate a productive record of scholarship in one of the focal areas, embrace an interdisciplinary research and teaching environment, and develop new collaborations within and beyond Baylor University. The position is a 9-month assignment through the academic year and will begin August 1, 2027. This is a full-time, tenure-track position with the possibility of tenure for experienced, highly qualified applicants at the Associate rank. Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate in biology, microbiology, chemical biology, or a related field is required.
  • Postdoctoral experience is preferred.
  • Sustained record of research accomplishment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated potential for success generating and maintaining extramural funding commensurate with their career stage is preferred.
  • Successful applicants must be interested in teaching undergraduate and graduate students, providing research mentorship, and contributing to our doctoral programs.
