Please read the Minimum Qualification section carefully, you may attach PDF or JPEG EXAMINATION INFORMATION EXPERIENCE EVALUATION: An experience evaluation consists of a quantitative evaluation of an Applicant's academic training and experience pertinent to the classification for which an examination is taken, based on the statement of experience as recorded on the candidate's application and on academic training based on required credentials. Examples of Duties Under general direction, assists in developing, implementing, and maintaining a safety program with applicable rules and regulations

Promotes safety awareness programs, including implementation of safety training. Assists in developing methods, procedures, and practices to prevent accidents. Investigates claims to determine validity as well as root causes of injuries.

Works with Departmental personnel to formulate employee/management safety committees to identify and eliminate hazardous conditions. Prepare weekly reports identifying areas with high rates of injury. Performs ergonomic assessments, working in conjunction with the Bureau of Worker's Compensation Safety & Hygiene Division.

Identifies best practices for injury prevention and Worker's Compensation cost containment. Identifies transitional work positions within the Division. Perform surveillance to prevent abuse of the Worker's Compensation system when applicable.

Ensures employee compliance with all safety programs. Develops safety manuals and procedures. Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal rules and regulations.

Performs other job-related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Business/Public Administration, or a closely related field from an accredited four-year college or university required. Two years of management experience in the administration of safety and/or worker's compensation programs required.

(Substitution: Two years of any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may substitute for each year of college education lacking.) Valid State of Ohio Driver's License required. Must have strong computer and technical writing skills. Must be able to wear and utilize required safety equipment such as respirators, hearing protection, or fall restraining harnesses as required by the conditions present at any incident and as required under applicable state or federal regulations

Must have the ability to obtain CHST, OHST, or ASP certification through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals may be required by the division within one year of appointment. HAZWOPER certification within one year of appointment may be required by division. Supplemental Information Reminder:Minimumqualifications must be met as of the last day of the applications accepted.

CLEVELAND MUNICIPAL SCHOOL DISTRICT (CMSD) PREFERENCE CREDIT An applicant who is a graduate of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) and is participating in an open competitive entrance-level examination, as determined by the Commission, shall receive an additional five (5) points upon achieving a passing score, as established in the examination announcement. Applicants must provide acceptable proof of graduation from a CMSD school at the time of application to qualify for this credit

VETERANS'PREFERENCE Veterans'preferencewillbeawarded,whenapplicable,toeligibleveteransinaccordance with Civil Service Rules 4.40E, 4.40F and 4.40G.Proof of active service or a DD Form 214, must be presented to the Commission at the time of filing application for the examination in which credit is sought in order to qualify for veterans' credit. If the applicant has received an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions that applicant shall receive an additional five (5) points added to their raw score on the examination; or ten (10) points are added to their raw score on the examination if applicant's supporting documentation indicates more than fifteen percent (15%) service-connected disability. NOTE: Only DD Form 214 (long form) or an official armed service document indicating type of discharge or separation and the dates of active service will be accepted as proof of active service
