Description:
Our client is taking database administration to the next level with automation and better configuration management. Be a part of the new team that is making this happen. They have an even mix of Oracle and MSSQL installations across multiple environments, but this role will concentrate on Oracle database administration and engineering in IBM AIX UNIX, Oracle Exadata and RedHat Linux environments.
Responsibilities:

  • Day to day administration of On-prem Oracle databases, Exadata and the UNIX (IBM AIX) servers they run on.

  • Take part in new projects as Oracle SME (subject matter expert).

  • Experience tuning queries and the overall database for performance.

  • Need candidates who are strong with backup & recovery and tuning in an on-prem environment.
  • They are looking for 5 years of on prem experience but, will look at strong candidates with 3-5 years’ of on-prem experience.
  • They need someone who is cool, calm and collected as their environment can get hectic.
  • They need someone who can work independently.
  • They won’t consider remote candidates as they need to be onsite for drills that they run and, when things break, they are expected to be on campus.
  • The days can vary and they are flexible. Being in on Tuesday and Wednesdays are ideal but, if they want to do Tuesday and Thursday or Wednesday and Thursday, they can work with it.
  • If the candidate has strong on-prem skills and Exadata, that is a huge plus. If they don’t have Exadata experience, they can train them on it.
  • Communication skills and personality are vital as they will be working closely with the business units and will be embedded with the business.
