Job description

Summary:Responsible forassistingprogram participants with all daily activities including assisting participants on and off the bus, transferring to and from chairs and wheelchairs,assistingwith toilet needs, andproviding assistancewith snacks and meals.

EssentialDuties:

  1. Assistother professional staff members asrequiredin implementing and carrying out services and activities and meeting the needs of individual participants.

  1. Open and close the center; making itready for daily activities, as needed.

  1. Perform daily routine cleaning at the center (sweeping, mopping, cleaning thekitchen,and taking out the garbage).

  1. Provide attendant care services to clients in homes (as assigned) including but not limitedtolighthousekeeping, meal preparation, transportation to physician appointments, grocerystore, etc.

  1. Record all attendant care activities within the Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) software as required by the Department of Aging and Independent Living.

  1. Assistparticipants on and off the bus.

  1. Transfer participants from chairs to wheelchairs.

  1. Assistparticipantwithtoilet needs (lift participant onto the commode, changeadult undergarments, andother such needs).

  1. Prepare andassistparticipants with snacks and meals (open containers, cut food, etc.)

  1. Promoteand engage participants inexercise, games,crafts,and other social activities.

  1. Participate in CPR, FirstAidand other training asrequired.

  1. Answerthe phone and handle telephone messages.

  1. Be responsible forpatient attendancesheets and some daily record keeping.

  1. Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Education, Experience& Training:

High School diploma or GED required.Experience working with the elderly preferred.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Position requires occasional or frequent moderate physicalactivity.While performing the duties of this job, the employeeis regularly required totalk orhear. The employeeis occasionally required tostand; walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use hands tomanipulate,handleor feel; andreach withhands and arms.The employee isfrequentlyrequired tolifta minimum of 50 poundsandpush/pull/exert force up to 150 pounds.

Other Requirements:

Must have a valid driver's license and the flexibility and willingness to change schedules and duties as needed according to staff availability.Must be willing totravelthe service area as needed. Travel is primarily local or within the service area during the business day.TBtest isrequired.
