Job description

About Evidence Action

At Evidence Action, we deliver data-driven interventions that transform lives at an unprecedented scale. We identify neglected global health issues and deploy proven solutions, forging healthier futures for generations.

Our model operationalizes leading academic research (including from Nobel-winning economists). We measure progress and outcomes at every stage to ensure we’re making a real impact for people living in poverty and suffering from preventable or treatable health issues. Operating across 11 countries, our team of 900+ has reached over 500 million people, working closely with governments to scale these interventions.

  • Our Deworm the World program has delivered over 2 billion treatments, significantly reducing worm prevalence and generating more than $23 billion in lifetime productivity gains.
  • Through Safe Water Now, we’ve saved the lives of over 15,000 children.
  • Our Accelerator explores untapped opportunities in global health, testing low-cost interventions with the greatest potential to save and improve lives.

At Evidence Action, your colleagues are your greatest asset. You'll partner with high-caliber colleagues in an environment blending innovation, autonomy, and teamwork. Our team excels in disruptive thinking and believes in rolling up our sleeves to get things done. If you're looking to work flexibly and with purpose, join a team that delivers measurable change for millions.

About the Role
Sitting within the Strategic Initiatives team and reporting to the Chief of Staff, you will be Evidence Action's go-to on AI strategy: on where the opportunities are, what’s working now, what the risks look like, on how we can put AI to work effectively across our programs and operations, and in how we represent Evidence Action's AI work in the broader field. They will own our global AI roadmap, managing our relationship with Anthropic, enabling our high impact pilots and use cases, and co-leading AI innovation alongside champions across all regions of our organization while serving as the central hub connecting their work.

This is not a primarily technical role. Success here means building the systems, relationships, and capabilities that enable 900+ staff across the organization to leverage AI in their work and ensuring that our significant AI investment generates measurable returns. We’re looking for someone who can bring structure across complex initiatives, communicate effectively across teams located in the US, India, and Africa, has a curiosity and growing skillset in AI, and the ability to collaborate with and influence senior leaders.

This is a one-year fixed-term role, with a genuine opportunity to shape what comes next: as AI at Evidence Action matures, so too will this role, and we hope to extend the term should the opportunity arise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Global AI Strategy and Governance (30%)
    • Manage Evidence Action's global AI roadmap, translating organizational strategy into a sequenced, actionable plan that evolves alongside the field and the organization's needs.
    • Advise the Chief of Staff and executive leadership on AI adoption progress, organizational readiness, evolving tools, emerging risks, usage guidelines, and return on investment on a regular basis.
    • Manage our relationship with Anthropic and other providers, coordinating on new features, deployment decisions, and enterprise-wide policy updates as they arise.
  • Use Case Portfolio and External Partners (30%)
    • Oversee our AI use case portfolio, collaborating with champions and functional leads to prioritize, sequence, and track pilots across all regions and functions.
    • Manage external AI vendors and consultants, maintaining accountability for performance, and risk mitigation throughout each engagement.
  • Knowledge Coordination and Capability Building (20%)
    • Drive AI adoption for US-based staff and functions, serving as the regional AI lead for the United States in coordination with team members in Africa and India.
    • Facilitate cross-regional knowledge exchange across all geographies, ensuring that frameworks, tools, and lessons learned translate into contextually appropriate adoption wherever Evidence Action works.
  • Monitoring, Analytics, and Reporting (20%)
    • Establish and maintain dashboards that track pilot outcomes, usage patterns, and progress against AI-related OKRs across all regions and functions.
    • Report regularly to the Chief of Staff and GLT members, surfacing trends, adoption barriers, and recommendations for resource reallocation or strategic adjustment.

Requirements

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Public Policy, Global Health, International Development, Computer Science, Technology, or a related field.
  • You have 3-5 years of professional experience in management consulting, internal consulting-type roles, special projects, chief of staff, or technology/product adoption roles.
  • You’re analytical with the ability to synthesize ambiguous information, identify what matters most, and develop clear recommendations under uncertainty.
  • You’re able to pick up new concepts and domains quickly (new technical areas, and organizational contexts, or emerging topics) and translate that understanding into action without waiting for perfect information.
  • You anticipate needs before they are articulated: identifying risks, surfacing opportunities, and proposing next steps ahead of being asked.
  • You build strong, trusted relationships across departments, levels, geographies and backgrounds with an ability to influence without formal authority. .
  • You bring experience working in international development or a global NGO, particularly in multi-country contexts.
  • Your background contains change management, learning and development, or organizational transformation.
  • You have hands-on familiarity with AI tools, particularly large language models
  • You have a working knowledge of AI domains beyond LLMs, such as automation tools, predictive analytics, or workflow integrations. You bring enthusiasm for the potential of AI to improve how organizations operate and deliver impact, paired with thoughtfulness about the risks it introduces, including to data privacy, institutional trust, and staff wellbeing.
  • You have project management skills; proven ability to manage multiple complex workstreams simultaneously across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • You’re passionate about Evidence Action's mission and have a commitment to applying AI in service of social impact.
