Position Overview:

Asa Housekeeping & Companion Aide at MapleCrest, you will play a dual role in maintaining cleanliness andproviding companionship and support to elders. Your responsibilities includeensuring a safe and sanitary living environment while building meaningfulrelationships through engaging activities and one-on-one interaction.

Housekeeping Responsibilities:
  • Performing a variety of housekeeping tasks such as:
    • Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors.
    • Cleaning and sanitizing toilets, sinks, and showers.
    • Dusting furniture and cleaning blinds, windows, and screens.
    • Disinfecting high-touch surfaces such as phones, remotes, and door handles.
  • Organizing and cleaning cupboards and refrigerators.
  • Restocking paper products (toilet paper, paper towels, facial tissues, etc.).
  • Properly handling hazardous and infectious materials in accordance with safety protocols.
  • Reporting malfunctioning equipment and maintenance concerns to the Facilities Coordinator.
Companion Responsibilities:
  • Providing one-on-one companionship and assistance to elders, ensuring their emotional and social well-being.
  • Monitoring and reporting changes in elders' conditions to the Facilities Coordinator.
  • Engaging elders in activities that promote mental stimulation and social interaction.
  • Assisting with meal preparation, serving meals, and ensuring dietary needs are met.
  • Transporting elders safely to off-site activities, medical appointments, and other locations using company vehicles.
  • Cleaning and maintaining elders' apartments, including laundry, bed-making, and general tidying.
  • Responding to elder emergencies by providing first aid and administering CPR if necessary.

Qualifications:
  • Willingness to care for older adults and commitment to the organization's mission.
  • Familiarity with household cleaning and laundering.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid State of Ohio driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to maintain insurability per Employer policy.
  • Ability to complete and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in housekeeping, elder care, or companion roles.
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures, gerontology, and person-centered care practices.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs constantly.
  • Frequent standing, bending, stooping, and kneeling for up to 15 consecutive minutes.
  • Working 3.5 to 5 hours standing, walking, and moving without the need to sit.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, and potentially hazardous materials.
  • Assisting elders in and out of vehicles, often in varied weather conditions.
  • Work in a variety of environments, including busy kitchens, apartments, and outdoor areas.
