Job description

Weyerhaeuser Company is searching for a Shipping Forklift Operator (Line Puller) to join our Shipping team at Evergreen EWP Plant located in Castleberry, AL. This facility's primary products are TJI Joists and Microllam Laminated Veneer Lumber for beam and header applications. Must be committed to safety, have a positive attitude, excellent work ethic, great communication skills, and a desire to work in a manufacturing facility. This position will primarily be pulling finished product from the production lines and into staging areas. Must be able to load trucks, as needed.
Must be flexible to work 12-hour shifts, rotating days.
Key Functions:
  • Ensure safe truck loading procedures are followed during loading and staging processes.
  • Communicate effectively the safety and quality expectations with all truck drivers for each load that is prepared for shipment.
  • Identify and resolve safety risks, quality, and Shipping issues. Report all near misses and safety hazards to Shipping Supervisor or designee.
  • Engage and address all potential safety issues with truck drivers and other pedestrian and/or contract personnel that require access to the Shipping yard.
  • Inspect all trailers and equipment for safety issues. Perform Pre-use Inspections on forklifts and spot trucks daily.
  • Inspect all railcars for proper cabling and safety devices. Load as appropriate and secure loads to minimize movement during shipment. Notify Shipping Supervisor or designee of issues.
  • Effectively communicate with Supervisor or Securitas personnel concerning all shipments.
  • Develop a thorough working knowledge of SAP and the Transportation and Inventory Management applications as necessary.
  • Ensure shift paperwork and Bill of Lading (BOL) paperwork is accurately completed and that all BOL's are accurate and printed correctly.
  • Ensure bin to bin transfers are completed properly and that all inventory is scanned to trucks as appropriate. Communicate any discrepancies to Shipping Supervisor or designee.
  • Remove all damaged material to QA Hold area and complete paperwork necessary to begin inspection and repair processes.
  • Participate in cycle counts as needed, and load material based on age; rotate inventory so that aged inventory is loaded prior to loading newer inventory.
  • Support line pulling operations during breaks as necessary.
  • Wear required PPE as appropriate.
  • Participate in Safety and Quality Management Systems programs as appropriate.
  • Work effectively within the team environment.
  • Maintain ongoing housekeeping of the yard and travel roads.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED or higher required
  • Forklift Training Certificate required
  • Knowledge and willingness to use lockout procedures and necessary PPE
  • Willingness to work any shift, work on short notice, work overtime and weekends and rotate between jobs; as well as perform any job as specified by supervisor
  • Willingness to learn Car Loader position and move up line of progression
  • Ability to sit and drive forklift on a frequent basis, frequently reach and grasp, climb on/off forklift, ladder, stacks of units and occasionally lift/carry up to 100lbs
  • Ability to work with little direct supervision and be self-motivated
  • Ability to work closely with others; be a team player/leader; demonstrate good communication skills, and a positive attitude
