What is an events tech?

Events Tech professionals are specialists who manage and implement technology solutions for live, virtual, or hybrid events. Their responsibilities include setting up audio-visual equipment, managing event software platforms, ensuring reliable internet connectivity, and troubleshooting technical issues during events. They play a crucial role in delivering seamless experiences for attendees, presenters, and organizers by leveraging the latest event technologies.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as an events tech?

To thrive as an Events Tech, you need a solid understanding of audio-visual (AV) systems, lighting, rigging, and basic IT networking, often supported by a technical diploma or relevant certifications. Familiarity with industry-standard equipment such as soundboards, lighting consoles, video switchers, and software like QLab or Crestron is commonly required. Strong problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and the capacity to stay calm under pressure help ensure smooth event execution. These skills are vital because they enable efficient setup, troubleshooting, and delivery of seamless live event experiences.

How does an events tech typically collaborate with event planners and other team members during an event setup?

Events Techs work closely with event planners, audio-visual specialists, and venue staff to ensure all technical aspects—such as lighting, sound, and video equipment—are set up correctly and function smoothly. Communication and teamwork are essential, as Events Techs often need to adapt quickly to last-minute changes or troubleshoot technical issues during rehearsals and live events. This role requires proactive coordination and the ability to remain calm under pressure, as well as a strong customer-service mindset to meet the needs of both clients and attendees.

Job description

** EventMobi is a remote-first company and this is a fully remote position. You may reside anywhere in Canada provided you are able to accommodate Eastern time working hours.

ABOUT YOU

Your events experience goes beyond internal company gatherings. You've worked in a professional events environment - a conference, association, agency, or corporate events team - and you think in run-of-shows, registration flows, and attendee journeys. You understand the full event lifecycle, from planning and logistics through on-site execution and post-event wrap-up. Extra credit if you've worked directly with clients or attendees and know what it takes to deliver a seamless event experience.

WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN US?

We are an award-winning event tech startup with teams in Toronto, Berlin, and Manila, proudly serving thousands of customers worldwide. Our commitment to innovation drives us to continuously enhance our products, keeping us at the forefront of the latest event technology trends.

As an Event Success Manager at EventMobi, you'll play a key role in empowering our customers' success. Acting as their strategic advisor, you'll spend your days proactively educating, onboarding, strategizing, problem-solving, and implementing cutting-edge technology and production solutions for our top-tier clients. Collaboration is at the heart of your role-you'll work closely with our Account Management, Product, and Customer Support teams to ensure our customers not only love using EventMobi but return year after year.
WHAT YOUR WORK WILL FOCUS ON:

  • Serve as a trusted partner and strategic advisor to professional event planners and marketers at large corporations and associations, helping them implement event technology and execute successful events.
  • Lead customer onboarding, strategy sessions, and relationship-building to drive adoption and value generation from EventMobi products.
  • Guide customers through technical product training with an events-first mindset - delivering hands-on enablement that prepares teams to execute high-impact events on our platform.
  • Manage full-service event contracts end-to-end, overseeing multiple concurrent events with varying scopes, timelines, and complexity.
  • Lead proactive project management across the entire event lifecycle - from planning and build through live execution and post-event follow-up.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Customer Support, Product, AV, and Sales) to coordinate requirements, resolve issues, and deliver seamless event experiences.
  • Monitor customer health and success metrics, identify risks early, and take action to drive adoption, retention, and long-term success.
  • Conduct regular customer touchpoints including strategy sessions and quarterly reviews to align on outcomes and optimize future events.
  • Maintain accurate account, project, and communication records in HubSpot and internal tools.
  • Support live events as needed, including occasional evenings, weekends, or travel for on-site or hybrid event support.
  • Share customer feedback and improvement ideas with internal teams to continuously enhance processes, products, and the overall customer experience.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience planning or coordinating professional B2B events: conferences, trade shows, corporate meetings, or association events.
*Experience with internal company events alone does not meet this requirement.
  • Demonstrated experience using event technology - registration platforms, event apps, or virtual event platforms. Familiarity with tools such as Cvent, Eventbrite, Bizzabo, Hopin, or similar is required.
  • A genuine interest in technology and its impact on the events industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical event organizers.
  • Top-notch organizational skills: you manage multiple projects simultaneously, document thoroughly, and follow through consistently.
  • An empathetic, problem-solving mindset - you care about delivering great outcomes for your clients.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • 2-year college diploma or 4-year degree in hospitality or events management.
  • Experience working with HubSpot, Salesforce, or other CRMs.
  • Previous experience supporting customer onboarding for technical products or SaaS platforms
