Do you love making spaces sparkle. Prefer to stay active on the job instead of sitting behind a desk. Join the team at Portland'5 Centers for the Arts, where every day is different, and your hard work helps create unforgettable experiences for our guests.
We're looking for reliable, energetic team members with weekend and/or evening availability-and yes, we'll work with your monthly schedule. Why You'll Love This Job: Get your steps in-this is a physically active role with plenty of variety Work behind the scenes at iconic Portland venues: the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, Keller Auditorium, and Hatfield Hall Be part of a supportive, fast-paced team that takes pride in making things shine If you take pride in your work, enjoy being on the move, and want to help make Portland sparkle-we want to hear from you. What You'll Do: Keep restrooms, lobbies, and event spaces clean, welcoming, and guest-ready.
Set up tables, chairs, stages, drapes, and more for performances and events. Support a clean, safe, and well-run environment for artists, crews, and audiences alike. Attributes to succeed in this role: Ability to perform physically active work throughout the day, including standing, bending, stretching, walking, and using hands and wrists for repetitive tasks; capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 80+ pounds occasionally, moving safely up and down stairs, and wearing backpack vacuum equipment for extended periods.
Willingness to learn and apply proper procedures for using cleaning equipment and supplies, including the safe handling of cleaning chemicals and the cleanup of spills or potentially infectious materials, with appropriate training and support. Skill in understanding and following both written and verbal instructions accurately; comfortable using basic technology such as smartphones, radios, and computers to support communication and task management. Ability to work reliably both independently and as part of a team, with a professional and positive approach when interacting with coworkers, clients, and the public; dependable in showing up on time and ready to contribute.
Openness to learning new methods and adapting quickly to changes in procedures or tools; attention to detail with the ability to recognize areas that need extra care or special attention without needing to be prompted. DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION At Metro, we strive to cultivate diversity, advance equity, and practice inclusion in all of its work. This means attracting and empowering a workforce that is inclusive of a broad range of human qualities.
Workplace diversity is both a moral imperative and a business strength, essential to providing quality support and services to our region.
