Salary Range: $40,500 to $50,000

The specific salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Athletic Events, Operations and Campus Recreation, this position is responsible for coordinating the management and supervision of assigned Intercollegiate Athletic Facilities, events and operations. 

Serve as the primary event manager for assigned intercollegiate sports, overseeing all aspects of game day operations—including visiting team coordination, officials’ logistics, credentialing, and emergency response planning. Ensure all events comply with NCAA, conference, and University standards for safety, operations, and fan experience.

The Assistant Director manage the operations, schedule and maintenance of assigned facilities and assist the Director with facility maintenance, SOP, EAP’s and capital projects for athletic facilities and work cooperatively with the physical plant, public safety, and other campus support units successfully operate athletic facilities on the St. Paul campus.  This position will coordinate student workers who directly support athletic facilities, events, and operations.   

This position is designated as Emergency Essential. Emergency Essential employees are expected to remain at work if the campus closes during their regular work schedule. If the campus closing announcement is made before their regular work schedule begins, Emergency Essential employees are expected to report to work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Serve as the primary event manager for assigned intercollegiate sports, overseeing all aspects of game day operations—including visiting team coordination, officials’ logistics, credentialing, and emergency response planning. Ensure all events comply with NCAA, conference, and University standards for safety, operations, and fan experience.  Oversee event logistics for assigned varsity sports, including budgeting, visiting team guides, parking coordination, event setup and teardown, weather monitoring via Perry Weather, and post-event debriefs. Serve as the postseason contact for assigned sports, coordinating logistics and support as needed. Collaborate with campus partners to ensure smooth execution.
  • Program and manage assigned athletic facility spaces on the Universities 25 pro software, card access and liaison with Public Safety for security.  Proactively plan, communicate and monitor home event schedules, practices, meeting spaces as well as maintenance schedules to ensure efficient operations. Assist club sports with programming activities on athletic facilities through the campus club sports office.   
    Maintain the athletic facilities master schedule in cooperations with the Director and Event, Operations and Recreation team. Ensure schedule and updates are proactively communicated to University and external partners. Coordinate the departement credential processs and system. 
  • Lead operational planning and scheduling for events, practices, coordination, facility use, and rentals in assigned facilities. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders—including key event contacts, coaches, support staff, campus partners, and external vendors to ensure successful event execution. Facilitate the execution of facility rental agreements. Foster a positive, service-oriented culture while promoting community engagement through external programming.
  • Assist the Director of Athletic Facilities and Operations with capital projects, maintenance, and development of EAP’s and SOP’s. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Three years of relevant experience in collegiate athletics or a related athletic operations organization
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by events and facility operations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Sports Administration or a related field preferred.

An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable skills and knowledge have been acquired may be substituted.
