What does an events associate do?

An Events Associate helps plan, coordinate, and execute events such as conferences, meetings, and social gatherings. Their responsibilities typically include managing logistics, communicating with vendors and attendees, assisting with event setup and breakdown, and ensuring that all aspects of the event run smoothly. Events Associates often work closely with event managers and other team members to deliver a successful experience for guests and clients.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an events associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Events Associate, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in event planning, often supported by a degree in hospitality or a related field. Familiarity with event management software, budgeting tools, and standard office applications is typically required. Exceptional interpersonal skills, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities help you stand out when coordinating with vendors, clients, and team members. These skills ensure seamless event execution, client satisfaction, and the ability to handle unexpected challenges effectively.

How does an events associate typically collaborate with vendors and internal teams during the planning process?

As an Events Associate, you’ll frequently coordinate with both external vendors (such as caterers, venues, and audiovisual suppliers) and internal teams (like marketing, sales, and operations) to ensure all event details are aligned. This involves regular communication, managing timelines, and confirming deliverables to keep everyone on track. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are essential, as you’ll be the link between multiple stakeholders, troubleshooting issues and adapting to last-minute changes. Careers with WSFS Bank offer an inclusive and supportive culture, competitive salaries, advancement opportunities, and more. We are the region's locally headquartered bank and wealth management company. We are honored to consistently be named a Top Workplace by our Associates, who make a difference every day for the people, businesses, and Communities we serve. We Stand For Service® is more than part of our name, it's our mission and our purpose.
We are seeking a passionate and driven Sponsorships and Events Specialist to join our team and help advance this mission. This role is essential to ensuring the Community Impact team delivers meaningful, measurable value to our Community partners while fulfilling our organizational commitments. The Sponsorships and Events Specialist is a key strategic lead responsible for the development, management, execution, and continuous optimization of the Company's sponsorship and event portfolio. This role exercises significant independent judgment in evaluating opportunities, managing corporate relationships, allocating resources, and implementing initiatives that advance business development, brand visibility, community engagement, and organizational goals.
The position functions as the subject matter expert for event management, providing leadership across business lines and serving as the primary point of accountability for program performance, partner success, and measurable return on investment.
This individual will play a key role in cultivating high-impact partnerships and creating engaging experiences that elevate brand visibility, strengthen Client relationships, and support broader business objectives. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with leadership capabilities, operational discipline, and a proven ability to collaborate across lines of business to drive results.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead the strategic planning, prioritization, and execution of the Company's event portfolio, exercising independent judgment in determining event objectives, resource allocation, stakeholder engagement strategies, as well as event execution, including venue sourcing, vendor management, contract negotiation, logistics, and on-site leadership.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, consistent, and engaging brand experiences across all events.
  • Own six-figure events budgets, forecast expenditures, identify efficiencies, and make recommendations regarding investment priorities to maximize organizational impact and return on investment.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to internal business units (e.g., Consumer, Wealth, Commercial Banking), aligning sponsorship and event initiatives with business development and Client engagement goals.
  • Manage ticket distribution and attendance optimization to maximize relationship-building opportunities and business impact.
  • Drive continuous improvement through post-event evaluations, performance data, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Collaborate on the identification, evaluation, and cultivation of strategic sponsorship opportunities aligned with the Company's business goals, brand strategy, and Community engagement priorities.
  • Implement frameworks to evaluate and allocate sponsorship investments, ensuring effective use of corporate resources and measurable return on investment.
  • Own and manage relationships with key corporate partners, including negotiation of sponsorship agreements and deliverables that maximize mutual value.
  • Oversee the execution of sponsorship activations, ensuring all deliverables (e.g., signage, digital assets, experiential components) are implemented in alignment with brand standards and timelines.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to ensure integrated campaigns, consistent messaging, and effective promotion of sponsorships and events.
  • Provide strategic oversight of high-profile partnerships, ensuring continued growth, visibility, and impact.
  • Act as a brand ambassador, ensuring all activations and engagements reflect the Company's mission, values, and reputation.
  • Deliver sponsorship presentations, and post-event reporting, incorporating data-driven insights and recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressively responsible experience leading sponsorship, event, partnership, or community impact programs, including demonstrated experience managing complex stakeholder relationships, negotiating agreements, administering budgets, and delivering measurable business outcomes.
  • Advanced attention to detail with proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, track deliverables, and ensure contractual obligations are consistently met with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning and execution of events and sponsorship programs, including the ability to develop long-term plans aligned with business objectives, forecast needs, allocate resources, and drive measurable outcomes.
  • Strong experience in planning and executing events, including end-to-end coordination, logistics management, vendor oversight, and on-site execution to deliver high-quality, impactful experiences.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration expertise, with the ability to partner effectively across marketing, sales, and other lines of business to drive integrated sponsorship and event strategies.
  • Highly developed organizational and analytical skills, including the ability to establish metrics, evaluate performance, and deliver comprehensive reporting on sponsorship and event outcomes.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills, with a demonstrated ability to build, maintain, and grow strategic relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.

  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, evaluating investment opportunities, and measuring return on sponsorship and event expenditures.
  • Proven ability to influence decision-making and build consensus among senior leaders, business partners, and external stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Experience developing strategic recommendations and presenting business cases to executive leadership.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present clearly and persuasively to senior leadership, management, and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in advanced knowledge of sponsorship and event management platforms, as well as Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), with the ability to leverage tools for tracking, reporting, and process optimization.
